The third novel in the Tristaine series
The Amazons of Tristaine find a new home in an abandoned village atop a mountain mesa, just before heavy winter snows cut off all means of travel. The clan settles in to rebuild their culture, and heal from the painful losses of the previous year.The mesa seems a perfect sanctuary for the grieving tribe. There are lodges enough for all, and plentiful game in the surrounding forest. There's even a large village square for clan festivals, and storyfires -- with an altar in its center, scarred by arcane carvings.
Within weeks, Shann, Tristaine's queen, is plagued by a mysterious weakness. Her lead warrior, Jesstin, is oblivious to the strange malaise that overtakes the Amazons, one by one. Brenna, Jess's adonai, can sense a malignant evil feeding on her sisters, but is too unsure of her own abilities to act in time . . .
