Does anybody really truly enjoy where they are during
the moment...or is everything wasted in anticipation and
memory? How many people really live in the present? I was
thinking about when families take their kids to "the
happiest place on earth": Disneyland.
The preparation is always full of expectation and frenzy;
everyone is excited and giddy. The actual day is filled
with complaints: "It's too hot, too cold, I'm too tired,
too hungry, have to pee too badly, the ride was too
scary or too short, the line was too long, the food's too
expensive, and the toys are too costly". The parents are
grumpy as well as the children. Then the ride home. The
kids are asleep, and the parents are driving, tired as
they are. The next day, however, the kids are wildy
explaining every second of everything about Disneyland,
and the parents are smiling at the childrens joy, and
nobody wants to do it again for awhile because it was
massive overload...but come summer, it'll happen all over
again. But really...did they enjoy it during the process?
When the kids were crying and complaining, when the
parents' feet hurt and the sun was too hot? Did anyone
stop in the middle and say "this is great" rather than
"it was" later on?

Wouldn't it be better to live without all the grief?
