I live here in Fort Smith where the Dalton brothers not only lived but were marshals as well. Franklin Dalton was killed only minutes from Fort Smith in the year 1887 on November 27 in Indian Territory/Oklahoma and is buried in Coffeyville, Kansas today at the Elmwood Cemetery as well as Grat and Bob his brothers. They are just walking distance from each other with one dying inside the law and the other brothers dying outside of it. I have enjoyed countless hours researching them and found out much on all of their lives not just Gratton's over the years! This web page is a labor of love seeing that I have grown fond of not only Grat but his other brothers as well over these many years of research on them!
Please note here, Emmett Dalton's book entitled "When The Daltons Rhode" is very rare/hard to find. You may obtain this book by taking an interlibrary loan at your local library. His other book entitled "Beyond The Law" may be obtained at the Coffeyville Museum in Coffeyville, Kansas, Fort Smith National Historic Site in Fort Smith, Arkansas or any major book web site. Just check web sites or phone directories to find phone numbers for these museums.
