Around 100 years ago there was a woman named Mary Worth (or Whales). One day she had a really bad accident and her face was scratched so badly that she bled to death. For some reason her spirit could not rest. Bloody Mary now roams the world as an evil spirit. If you stand in front of a mirror in the dark and say her name three times, you will see her face appear.

The story of the ghost who appears in a mirror when you call her name has been told many times in many different versions. There's something about the story that makes it almost a tradition at slumber parties and summer camp. Some times even in the bathrooms at school.

There is many ways to summon the spirit but some of them involve a mirror in a dark room chanting. Sometimes candles and running water is also used. Some of the most popular chants are "I believe in Mary Worth," "I don't believe in Mary Worth," "I hate Mary Worth," "Bloody Mary, come to me," "Bloody Mary, I got your baby", "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, I killed your baby", or even just saying her name 3 times. Another way to summon her is to say the Lord's Prayer backwards. Most of the time you would only have to chant 3 times although sometimes 5, 10, or even 13 times is used.

Some minor things mentioned among the components of the ritual in certain variations include splashing water on the mirror, rubbing your eyes or holding a knife.

One ritual is that you go into a room with a mirror and turn all the lights off You begin, in a whisper, to chant "bloody mary. bloody mary, Bloody Mary", as you continue to chant your voice should grow louder and louder into a near scream. While you are chanting you should be spinning around at a medium rate and taking a glimpse in the mirror at each pass. Near the 13th repetition of the words she will appear.

Some poeple say that when you summon her only the Devil appears in a mirror.

What Happens when you do summon Bloody Mary? The most common result is that you'll see Bloody Mary's face in the mirror, and she'll try to hurt you somehow. She'll eighter scratch you with her nails or claws, attack you with a knife, tear your face off, pulling you into the mirror, cut out your eyes, force you to cut your own throat or just die of fear. Sometimes the end result is supposed to be much less threatening. Maybe you'll just see what she looks like in the mirror. Maybe nobody shows up and the water in the bathtub will turn into blood, or you'll see scars on your body that aren't there. When I tried it all I got was fresh scratch marks on my arms. But then again I was too serious about it also I did it during the day.
