All's Well that Ends All

so tragic, yet so beautiful
so beautiful & so brown
so tattered are the wings of angels
who never seem to have left the ground
so mysterious yet so common place
unable to stand, unable to bend
as all is as well as can be expected
& all's well that ends well
sculpted in water-color & lace
designed by the father of our grace
destined to be the only thing worth keeping
this belief that distance is only miles
as everything seems so come & go
& so much has come since then
as all is as well as can be expected
& all's well that ends well
so delightfully self-assured
but, more to convince & less for show
so little stands the test of time
so little of what we know
as truth is like a pill too hard to swallow
& lies have cost us our pride & our friends
as all is as well as can be expected
& all's well that ends well
so pitifully self-absorbed
so deliciously uncertain & blind
so spiritually moved by every motion
so close to perfect it dazzles the mind
but, all is fleeting we must assume
as we protect ourselves but, do not defend
for all is as well as can be expected
& all's well that ends well
love so fabled & silk-toned
hardly seems a prize to behold
when such seems to fade with the candle
& breaks with the brittle & cold
as everything is as it should be
& always the same as it has been
as all is as well as can be expected & all's well
that ends well
