Our Summer in Belize program offers the opportunity to earn academic credit, while studying in the beautiful tropical town of San Ignacio. Of particular interest to pre-veterinary students, is the opportunity to have hands-on field experience with large and exotic animals. There are very few study abroad programs that offer this type of experience; it is fascinating field work and also a great addition to a pre-veterinary student's resume when applying to veterinary school. The course description for our animal health course is below, but I encourage you to visit our website for the full description of our Summer in Belize program: ASCI-105: Exploring Animal Health and Disease (3 credits and field course) The intensive course is designed for pre-veterinary, animal science or zoology students to gain working knowledge of the husbandry and health issues confronting horses, cattle and zoo animals and to participate in externships involving each type of animal. Students will spend time at the Belize Zoo, the Central Experimental Farm of Belize, the Janus Foundation and the Green Iguana project working with a variety of large and small animals. Course Director: Jeff Reiswig, DVM, PhD

I have over 30 Gerbils and am in desperate need to find adoptive homes for them. All of them are only weeks old and adorable and hand tame. I have males and females, solid black, black and white, from 5 weeks old to a 3 months old. They are the sweetest creatures ever! The only requirement to adopt is a loving home! The parents of the babies that are for adoption were tragically left on the side of the road in an aquarium - no food or water. Due to their neglect, the Mom has a broken leg and the Dad is missing toes. Mom and Dad have been through alot, and due to the nature of Gerbils' strong bonds, I could
not separate them. Now they have had lots of healthy babies that need loving homes!

Well, I've done it. Some of you have heard me threaten to do it. Some of you have done it before. But now I have done it. I've commited to raising at least $1,800 and to walk at least the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles), and I plan to walk as far as a marathon and a half on April 30 - May 1, 2005 in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I'll have to spend the next few months training, fundraising, and preparing for the event. It's the biggest challenge I've ever taken on, but I'm very excited about doing it because I know it will make a real difference to the millions of people affected by breast cancer. The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars,; and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. Please help to support me and the breast cancer cause by making a generous contribution to my efforts. You can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message, which will bring you right to my personal page. Please remember as you're making your donation that in less than the time it took to read this e-mail, another woman in the U.S. was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thank you for your support. I'm counting on you guys! P.S. you can find out more about the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer by visiting www.avonwalk.org
