Beaverton, Ore. - An 11-year-old Washington County boy is recovering after getting attacked by a Pit Bull.

The attack happened Monday at the child's home on Northwest Leahy Drive.

Mitchell Todd says he and his friend were playing with the dog when Mitchell tripped and fell.

Mitchell says the next thing he knew, the dog was on top of him and had his arm in his mouth.

"I guess he thought we were trying to play tug of war with my arm, so he pulled back and started shaking his head," Mitchell said. "I think when he started shaking his head, he started cutting into the bottom of my arm."

Mitchell was able to get the Pit Bull off of him, but ended up getting about 200 stitches in his arm. He did not suffer any nerve or muscle damage.

The boy's family says the dog, which is owned by a family friend, is usually friendly. They do not plan on pressing charges.

Still, the Pit Bull is now at an animal shelter where he will be quarantined for ten days.

After that, his owner says he will put the dog to sleep.
