One Wish

If I could have one wish,
I wouldn’t ask for riches,
I wouldn’t ask for the love I already have,
I wouldn’t ask for fame;

All I want is to be with you,
Just one day with you in my arms,
While our loved ones in heaven,
Watch us sway to a choir of angels;

I know it may sound selfish,
Because I know even with you for a day,
I will surely ask for another day,
Because twenty-four hours is not enough;

For my heart to whisper in tune with the wind,
Telling you how beautiful your eyes are,
But then again, they are only a small part,
Of your beautiful self that I would cherish;

I know that when the first sun sets,
I’ll ask that you stay in my arms,
For just a while longer because I don’t want,
To take you from the bright path,

That hopefully leads you back,
Into my arms for an eternity,
But for now, just one day is sufficient,
For me to show you just how much I can love you;

I’ll make you smile just like I forever will,
When I think of the day we spent together,
And reflect upon the day that my wish,
Came true, and I could be with just you.
