In my final but holiest hours,
May you stand beside me,
While I wilt with the flowers.
Watch the sunset in the sky,
For surely it will be the last I’ll see,
Because I hear the angels cry.
Grip my hand tighter than before,
So I may hold it once again,
When the sun sets upon you forever more.
Do not cringe when I kiss your cheek,
For my kisses will be better than they’ve ever been,
Once you reach the pinnacle, which we all seek.
Then we may both watch the tide,
Coming in at our feet,
While I hold you forever close to my side.
And when night falls upon earth’s atmosphere,
We’ll again join heaven’s elite,
While looking down on those who know we’re here.
