What is Wicca?

There are many misconceptions about the Wiccan faith. It is time to set the record straight. There are many myths surrounding witches and wiccans. First of all witches/wiccans do not worship the devil, in fact most do not believe in such an entity.

There are many traditions of paths of wicca, you have to research them to decide on which path to follow. You don't have to follow one specic tradition. You can be an eclectic witch; a witch who follows a number of traditions. The definition of wicca (an alternative name for modern witchcraft)is a postitive, shamanistic nature religion with two main deities honored and worshipped in wiccan rites: The Goddess (the female aspect and a deity related to the ancient Mother Goddess in her tripple aspects of Maiden, Mother, Crone) and the Horned God (the male aspect). Wicca is known as the "Craft of the Wise" or just "The Craft". Some of the wiccan traditions are: Gardenerian, Alexandian, Dianic, Tanic,Georgian, Egyptian and so on. Many of the traditions were formed in the 1960s. Although the traditions are different, they all hold common principles.

"Wicca often includes the practice of various forms of "white" magick (usually of healing purposes or as a counter to negativity), as well as rights to attune oneself with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the moon and the four seasons." Magick (spelt with a "k" to diferenciate it from slight of hand or stage magic) itself is not evil or good, it is a neutral force, it is the intent of the witch that makes it either. No reputable wiccan will have any thing to do with "black magick" (using magick for negative workings). Every act has consequences for the person who does it. Wiccans believe that everything you send out comes back to you times three. This is believed in many religions, like the Christian's "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you." There isn't any "right" religion. All religions are right as long as they help you to grow spiritually.
