Honor

Underestimated. She was in all honesty the last person you would accuse of even the smallest crime. She both hated and loved this. It was there doom in the end. If they didn't see it coming then they deserved what they where getting. At least those where her views on the subject. Sarah sat on the old torn sofa, her legs thrown up in the air, her head dangling near the floor. She casually toyed with the knife in her hands. She watched as her mother walked past and picked a bag up off the coffee table. "Sarah I'm working late tonight, don't wait up" Where the woman's only words before she walked out the door. Sarah hardly noticed. The knife in hand had all her attention. She had at one time considered suicide. That was years ago and since then her fascination with death had went from being directed towards herself to others. She fantasized about killing people. Her teachers, her friends, her enemies, even her mother. Fury rose inside her as she thought of her mother. Working late was just another excuse. She was out fucking around. Sarah had realized years prior that her mother wasn't much of one. Since Sarah could remember her mother would leave her alone while she went whoring around. She knew her mother was on drugs and drank a lot. The bottles in her room where proof enough of that. A small chuckle escaped her lips. If her mother had been home and actually cared about her, then right now she wouldn't be considering killing her. Ironic. Sarah twirled around into a sitting position and hovered over the coffee table. She layed the knife down for a minute as she rolled her sleeves up. She closed her eyes as she ran the blade against her skin. After each row a thin line of blood appeared. Blood excited her. It aroused her. Before her boyfriend had left she had talked him into cutting her while having sex. It became too much for him in the end. He left just like everyone else in her life. She vowed to make him pay. To make them all pay. She rolled her sleeves back down and stood up. She felt like going out. She closed the knife and placed it in her pocket. She walked over to the door and look out the blinds to the window right beside. Her mother had left the car. One of her junkie friends must have picked her up. Sarah grabbed the spare set from the flower pot on the coffee table and walked out side. The sun was almost completely set, the night breeze blew through her hair giving a settling feeling. She drove faster than the speed limit but she didn't notice, or care. She just wanted away as fast as possible. She didn't seem to see the sign warning her that she was leaving town. She just kept her foot on the gas peddle. Time seemed to disappear and soon she noticed that the sun was rising. Where was she? She noticed a rest stop was a quarter mile ahead. She would stop and see how far she had gone and turn back around. She pulled over and stepped from the car. The place was deserted. A bathroom and small covered eating area was all to be examined. Sarah walked up and looked up at the maps that where posted on the wall. This was obviously for a tourist. It gave directions to all major cities and sites. But where was she? How far was she from her home? Oh well, she figured she would just turn the car around and keep driving that way till she got home. She began to walk back to her car when she noticed something alarming. Her driver side door was open and someone was bent over inside. A thief. She reached into her pocket and pulled the knife out. This was her time to shine. "No one steals from me" she said quietly as she approached the un suspecting thief. She crept up behind him and lifted the knife into the air. Her eyes grew wide. She stood still. She looked down to see a knife stuck all the way into her stomach. The man turned around and smiled. His deep green eyes seemed to mock her. She couldn't speak. She fell backwards onto the hard pavement. When Sarah woke up she realized she was in a strange bed. She sat up to find the man sitting at the end of the bed. "Sleep well?" She started to stand but felt an incredible pain. She touched the place that had been penetrated with metal. A large bandage covered the wound. "You stabbed me" She said in shock. "Yes I did" he said with a smile. "you where about to stab me, where you not?" Sarah could only nod. "Why didn't you leave me to die?" He looked as if he was thinking then replied. "I guess you could call it honor among killers" Sarah sat silent for a moment. "I've never killed anyone" The same smile came to his face. "I saw your reflection against the car. You wanted to kill me. If it hadn't been me you would have killed someone this morning." He stood and held out his hand. She took it and stood up. He handed her the keys to her car. "I'm letting you go" he said and handed her the knife he had stabbed her with, her blood still covered it. "Take this as a gift." She nodded and took the weapon. The drive home was long but it gave her time to think about what had happened. She had only thought about doing those things before, it was time for her to make those things reality. She had a lot of work ahead of her but his words would forever stick with her. "Honor among Killers" she giggled and hit the gas hard as she saw her mother stumbling towards the door to their house.
