Peel the skin off the avocado. Imagine your negative traits peeling off of you, including any negativity your mind has towards any part of yourself. Slice the fruit into 7 pieces, and remove the pit. Mash the slices into a paste, and use as a face mask. Visualize all your blemishes disappearing. Now take seven snow peas in your right hand, and 7 cherries in your left. Eat them alternately. Left hand rules the subconcious, unseen world, and the right hand rules the concious seen world, thus you are making yourself beautiful inside and out.

When ivory Venus smoothes your brow,
And Mars recurves your lips' red bow,
Make haste to utter this binding verse

Planets that move
By heaven's hinge,
Be siged and fixed
Forever here,
And close my image
Wthin thy sphere"

The Enchantment of Glamoury
By Edain McCoy
We can use glamoury spells to met into the
vackground and appear mearly
invisible, or can appear to shape it so that it
enhamces our personal
appearance and charisma.
You will need the following to perform this spell
A mirror (perferably one used for magic only)
a red candle
a green candle
and something used as a talisman to trigger the
spells action when you need
it.
Do this spell at night, in as much darkness as you
can. Cast a small circle, sit in it facing west (the traditional Celtic
direction). Place the mirror in front of you, and the two candles behind you,
one to each side, so
that the candles and the mirror form a triangle
around you.
The green candle is associated with the planet Venus which rules
personal beauty. The red candle is the color of passion and will help you
project charisma. Keep these color associations in mind, but keep the candles
themselves out of sight. The idea is to have enough light to almost see into the
mirror, but not enough to clearly illuminate your reflection.
Grasping your choosen talisman firmly between your hands, take several deep
breaths to become
fully relaxed, then gaze into the mirror while
visualizing your image changing to activate your
spell. As you continue to work at molding your image you may notice it start
to change to reflect your
desired appearance. Dont be alarmed if your
reflection seems to take on a life of its own. When you are satisfied that you
have molded your image as much as you can for one session, place the talisman
over your heart area and
pour into it the energy of the image you created.
Visualizing it becoming a trigger that will release the energy of your spell
when itis worn. Seal the spell by putting the talisman on and repeating this
charge:
"From burrows dark and lake-world deep,
Fairies slumbering rise from sleep,
Sometimes here, now sometimes there,
What I will is the face I wear."
Extinguish and cover the candles to protect their
energy until it is time to do the spell again. Repeat the spell as often as you
need to reinforce the mental image you wnat to project. Follow this up with as
many physical world effects as ou wish to use to change your image.
Serenity Skin and Face Moisturizer

Warm 4 teaspoons sweet almond oil, 1 drop rose
Geranium oil and 2 drops each chamomile and lavender oils;
Add to beeswax mixture.
Dissolve 1/4-teaspoon borax in 3 tablespoons warm rose water;
Add to oil mixture, beating constantly until cool. Store in small jar.
An Anise Bath!
This is a bath for sharing! Anise is an herbal aroma that is enjoyed by
men and women both! So why not share!! Licorice root can be used instead
of anise seeds. I also recommend using anise hyssop in addition to this
recipe I've acquired: A quarter cup each of: jasmine tea, anise seeds,
rose petals, and mint leaves.
Place this into bath sachets and steep
into 2 cups of boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Then add to your hot
water bath! Place a few candles around tub, and fill a couple of
champagne glasses with a favorite wine or juice! And enjoy!
Lemon Verbena Hair Rinse
Refreshen your hair, stimulate pores and add circulation, and make your
hair smell great by using this recipe: Take a handful of lemon verbena
leaves and
add them to a cup or so of boiling water and let set for an hour. Strain
and get rid of the leaves, and after washing and conditioning hair, pour
this refresher over your hair and towel dry! (A favorite scented
geranium, or pineapple sage, or anise hyssop will do instead of lemon
verbena if you prefer!)
One SIMPLE Chapstick Recipe!
Not only in the summer do we need the protection of the sun on our
sensitive lips, but also, in the winter to protect against not only the
sun, but the cold and wind! This recipe is one from Jeanne Rose's Herbal
Body book:
She says to melt 2 tablespoons of beeswax with 4 tablespoons of Apricot
oil, adding 1/2 tablespoon of camphor. Stir until the camphor is
dissolved and pour into small jars. Use whenever necessary. I would
think that a little rose oil, or lemon, or any other of your favorites
would add an extra taste. Just be sure the "taste" is compatible with
the camphor! Have fun with this!
Spicy Aftershave Lotion
Take a 1/4 cup each rosemary, and mint and add: a grated nutmeg, a
cinnamon stick, a half a lemon-grated, and if available, 1/4 cup of
patchouli leaves. (A couple of drops of essential oil would be fine.)
Add these things to 2 cups vodka. Add a couple of drops of musk
essential oil and 1 cup of rose water. Let all this set for a couple of
weeks, strain, label, and store in a cool spot
Kathie's Herbal Perfume
What could be more refreshing after your nice warm bath than a great
smelling after bath splash! The herb books are FULL of great bath
splashes and perfumes, and for the men: after shaves! This month, if
you'd like, you can try your hand at making a after-bath splash that is
lightly scented, (not over-powering to the point that you wonder what
odor the perfume is hiding!) and cooling, so it is good even after
sunning in the upcoming summer heat! I started mine about three weeks
ago (second week in May) and I will probably strain it yet today for I
think the odor is just about right! Another thing about doing this is:
because I am making this at this time of year-I clean out stock items,
like mint, so my stock stays fresher with this years herbs. YOU CAN MAKE
THIS WITH FRESH HERBS AND IT ACTUALLY TURNS OUT BETTER!! (The volatile
oils are fresher). Keep in mind that in the beginning stages of this
splash, it really does
Suncare Blend
Simply add 14 drops lavender and 1 drop peppermint to 4 to 8 ounces
water. Place in an atomizer, shake well and apply to skin as needed to
soothe and refresh it after a long day in the sun.
After Shave
1 C Vodka (A high proof works best)
2 tsp. Dried yarrow
1 Tbls Dried lavender flowers
1 Tbls. Dried sage leaves
1 dried Bay Leaf
1 Tbls Honey (This will help if the user has dry skin)
Mix ingredients together, and pour into a clean jar with a tight fitting
lid. Place in a cool, dark place for two weeks. At the end of two weeks
strain of the liquid and discard any solids that have formed. Pour the
liquid into a clean container. You may add EOs or herbs and allow the
solution to sit longer to create a stronger scent.
This recipe was created by Janice Cox and was published in the Herb
Companion 1997 August issue in the article about "Herbal Skincare for
Men".
Soothing Tooth Powder
1 Tbs. arrowroot powder
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
You can add a little bit of peppermint oil if you like to give it flavor.
Simply mix the ingredients together and dip a damp tooth brush into this
powder and brush. Ahhh, it is a nice feeling.
Toothpaste
1 tsp Dried Irish moss
1 cup of water
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking soda
1-2 Drops chlorophyll
2 Drops of peppermint oil or anise
Soak the moss in water 15 min and then bring it to a slow boil in small
pot and simmer for 15-19 minutes. The moss may or may not completely
dissolve. Strain gel through cheesecloth into a small container. Mix
salt and soda and add to
the gel.
After that is well mixed add the chlorophyll and oil. Mix again.
Create a Facial Oil
Carrot Seed is one of the best essential oils for dry, mature
and aging skins. It stimulates cell renewal and protects against
skin damage due to weather exposure.
Some other oils useful for skin care are Frankincense, Geranium,
Lavender, Sandalwood and Rosewood. Try a blend with some or
all of these oils for fragrant facial care.
Some base oils to choose from are Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil,
Hazelnut, Apricot Kernel.
A facial oil should never exceed a 2% concentration of essential
oils.
A 1% concentration would be 1 drop of essential oil to 1 teaspoon
of base oil.
This means you have to create a blend of the essential oils you're
going to use then take 1 drop of the blend.
Salt Glows
Very popular in Europe but easy to do at home.
Exfoliating and Detoxifying. Helps to remove dead cells
from the outer skin layer.Cleanses pores, stimulates the
elimination of toxins.Improves circualtion.
Mix 1 oz. of fine sea salt with 10-15 drops
of your favorite essential oils. Some to choose from
are Grapefuit, Lemon, Cypress, Juniper, and Fennel.
Moisten salt with water or mix with carrier oil to make
a paste that can be spread easily. Apply with circular
movements on entire body, especially hips and thighs.
Use before your shower or bath.
Skin-Softening Bath Bag
Adapted from The Herbal Body Book, by Stephanie Tourles (Storey
Books, 1994).
This easy-to-make bath bag nourishes and softens winter-weary skin
in the most delicious way.
It calls for two common kitchen-cupboard ingredients: one provides
gentle exfoliation to banish dead flaky skin cells, and the other
soothes and softens.
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup ground oatmeal
1/4 cup ground sunflower seeds
1. Place ingredients in the toe of an old stocking, or in the center
of an 8x8 square of muslin, cheese cloth, or cotton (old, worn
handkerchiefs work well). Gather into a pouch and tie with a short
string.
2. As you relax in the tub, gently rub your entire body with the
bag, then let it remain in the water releasing its softening
properties. Discard bag when finished, or scrape used ingredients
into the compost and wash fabric to use again.
Big Body Hair Rinse
Adapted from Naturally Healthy Hair, by Mary Beth Janssen (Storey
Books, 1999).
Winter cold and dry air can really make our hair look thin, limp,
and lifeless.
If your tresses could use a little bodifying boost, this simple
formula is for you: it will add strength, luster, and incredible
fullness to your hair.
Only one herbal ingredient does the trick, and a few drops of
optional essential oil adds fragrance, shine, and silkiness.
Nettles are a wonderful herbal ally, not only for fuller, more
beautiful hair, but as a calcium-rich tonic that benefits the entire
system. (See the Drinkable Nettle Infusion recipe below).
Dried nettles and nettle tincture are easy to buy.
Here are two variations on the Big Body formula. The second one
couldn't be easier!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Big Body Hair Rinse
INGREDIENTS
2-4 tablespoons dried nettles
1 cup purified or distilled water
3-5 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
1. Combine herbs and water in a stainless steel or glass pan. Bring
to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer, covered, for half an hour.
Remove from heat and let cool, then strain out the liquid and
discard the spent herbs.
2. After shampooing, gently towel-blot your hair, then wrap a towel
around your neck. Leaning over a sink or basin, apply the rinse with
a spout bottle. For extra potency, pour over a basin so the rinse
won't drain away, then pour the collected liquid through the hair to
use every drop. Do not rinse out. Blot hair dry with a towel.
