There are a lot of people out there who see those words and automatically think that the person who has it is crazy and needs to be 'locked away' where they can't harm anybody, but this isn't true. There are a lot of people with MPD who are just like you are. They could be your neighbor, your boss, your fellow co-workers, teachers, classmates, whatever, but they're out there and you probably wouldn't even know it. Why? Simple, lot of people with MPD are scared that if they tell their little secret that people are going to be afraid of them, call them weird and/or crazy, say that they're just trying to get attention, and lock them up, and if they have kids then they're afraid their kids will be taken away.

Truthfully, we're not scary, we're not out to hurt you or your children. We just want people to love and accept us for who we are, just like anyone else on this planet.This is all we ask, yet a lot of times it's the hardest thing to even come out and admit that we're not the only one living in our body.
