There are altogether 13 core subjects in my course, which are divided into two categories: Business Studies (8 core subjects) & (5 general subjects).
In my first year (1st semester), I studied Accounting 1, Business Communication 1, IT 1 (Infomation Technology 1), Elementary Shorthand 1 and Business Law 1 for Business studies. As for general subjects, I learned useful skills like Thinking Skills. Last but not least, Sports & Wellness also known as physical exercise is included throughout the two year course.
In the second semester of the first year, I studied Business Communication II, Elementary Shorthand II, Business Law II, Business Fundamentals, IT 2, Elementary Word Processing, Interpersonal Skills and IT II.
In IT, I learned how to used programs such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Frontpage and Microsoft Powerpoint. I learned how to create a homepage using Frontpage and create presentations using Powerpoint.
In the first semester of my second year, I studied Secretarial Administration 1, Word Processing 1, Shorthand 2, Principles of Management 1 and Personal Effectiveness. And in the final semester, I study Secretarial Administration II, Word Processing 2, Principles of Management II, Simulated Secretarial Office Practice and Group Effectiveness.
Shorthand III was offered as an elective subject but I dropped it and went for Principles of Management in the final semester as I feel that acquiring Elementary Shorthand and Shorthand II were sufficient for me.
I find most of my modules very useful and interesting as I will be able to apply these skills in the near future, be it further studies or work.
