Persephone
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of the Underworld
Persephone was a very unlucky girl due to her kidnapping by Hades (God of the Underworld) Well, Persephone was the Goddess of the Underworld. She was the daughter of Demeter and Zeus. She was just a maiden, until her kidnapping. So, it starts like this. One sunny day, Persephone was picking flowers with some nymphs and with her half-sisters, Artemis and Athena. So, Persephone later just...went away from the group...until, the earth opens up, and Persephone gets snatched by Hades. Actually, Zeus allows his brother, Hades, to kidnap her daughter, Persephone, who actually has another name, which is Kore. Helios, who was the Sun, told the anxious mom, Demeter, what happened. (He saw everything!) You see, the earth died without this lovely maiden. She was the one who made flowers grow, and made Earth a beautiful place to be. Well, some time LATER, Zeus could not dare let the earth die, so he told Hermes to retrieve her. Hades, was told, too, but he didn't care if the Earth was dying, he didn't care if there was no flowers. He just wanted his Persephone! Well, he tricked her into eating 4 pomegrante seeds, which forced her to come back for 4 months each year. Demeter was saddened by this, and until Hekate rescued Persephone, Demeter was ecstatic. Persephone's name in Roman was Proserpina.

Demeter
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of the Harvest
Demeter was the Goddess of the Harvest and the Goddess of the Fields. She was the daughter of Titans Rheia and Kronos. Demeter was thanked when crops grew, as well as when it was time to harvest them. Bread was broken in her honor, pretty much as saying "thanks".Demeter was the mother of Persephone, Goddess of the Underworld, and searched for her, since Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, God of the Underworld. She got help from many goddesses and gods, including Hekate. Demeter was always a happy goddess until the kidnapping of Persephone. Demeter's name in Roman mythology was Ceres.

Eileithyia
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Childbirth
Eileithya or another name for her, Ilythia, was the Goddess of Childbirth. She was one of the daughters of Hera and Zeus. She is best known for helping Leto give childbirth to the twins. Hmmm...maybe because of her...they're like that...nah...Well, Ilythia's Roman name was...hmmmm...oh...Lucina.

Rheia
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Fertility
Rheia was basically a Titaness who took Kronos, another Titan, as her mate. I have no idea why Kronos ate his children, there are a lot of myths about it, but uhhh...they're too weird. So! Rheia was the Titan goddess of Fertility and had children, such as Zeus, Hera, and Hestia. Rheia was very kind by saving her children from Kronos. There is one story when Rheia tells her son Zeus not to marry. Never! Actually, Rheia did not allow it. After all, she was the mom. Ugh...well..Zeus gets mad and rapes her...ugh...a son raping her mother...oh oh oh...I see now. Well Rheia was trying her best to protect him. Jeez...

Hera
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Marriage
Hera was the protector of marriage, the wife and sister of Zeus, and the Queen of the Gods. She was the youngest sister of Hestia, as she was the youngest daughter of Titans Rheia and Kronos. Somehow I don't get why she's not a Titan. Hera's sacred bird was the peacock, and almost all myths, she was portrayed as a harridan. On almost all the legends, Hera is very jealous, well double duh! Zeus was always cheating on her! Duh! Well, Hera had temples all over Greece, and was yeah, very famous. She was a jealous goddess, and loved to punish Zeus' lovers. She got angry when Athena was born, and Hera was too, very cold. She had a child and was expecting him to be handsome, very very handsome. Well, it turned out he was the opposite and she threw him-literally-in the air. Poor and unfortunate-it had to be Hephaestus. Hmm...let me see if I can remember Hera's children with Zeus...oh yes! They were:Hebe (Goddess of Youth) Ares (Goddess of War) and Ilythia(Goddess of Childbirth). Well, yeah, those were the kids, also, Hera is in many myths. Her name in Roman is Juno.

Aphrodite
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Love an Beauty
Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty, and in The Odyssey, she was the daughter of Dione and Zeus, which I believe that's right. Aphrodite had I dunno HOW many kids but, I know one is Eros or Cupid in Roman. She was married to Hephaestus, smith god, but fell in love with Ares. She only liked herself, and like Artemis, was beautiful, but very cold. Oh yeah, Aphrodite is also considered the Patroness of Prostitutes. Yeah...I was shocked when I first found out, but yeah, I mean it's typical for Aphrodite to be the patron of that...well, she's also responsible for the Trojan War. Her name in Roman is uhh...oh yeah! Venus.

Athena
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Wisdom
Athena was the patron goddess of Athens, which was named after her, she was also the goddess of wisdom, warfare, weaving and other things. She is part of the 3 Virgin Goddesses, which are her, Artemis, and I think Hestia. Well, her father was Zeus and had a lot of brothers and sisters, like Artemis and Apollo. Also, Athena's closest companion was Nike, the Goddess of Victory. She had a mother, but uhh...in the myths...he heh...she did not have a mom. Athena was Greece's favorite goddess, and when wars started, kingdoms of Greece hoped she'd go by their side, like the Trojan War, the Greeks hoped she'd go with 'em, but the Trojans hoped she'd go with them too. There are many stories about her, and legends say she was the one who put an olive tree in Athens, which helped the people, with wood, olive oil, and of course-olives! Athena was very bright and punished anyone who'd compare themselves to her. Athena's sacred animal was the owl, and Athena was usually a mysogynist, or woman hater. Athena's birth was weird, like her mother was eaten by Zeus?!
Well, yes, she was, because Zeus thought his kid would be stronger than him. So mom dies, until Zeus gets these headaches and begs Hephaestus to open his head. Pop! Athena pops out, all grown up. Zeus is glad 'cause she's a girl. So what? Girls are sometimes stronger than guys! Her name in Roman is Minerva. Doesn't that sound like a queen's name?

Eris
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Discord
Oooooh! Goddess of Discord...Oh...what next? Well this goddess, Eris, was evil! But for some reason, she always stayed by her twin brother, Ares (God of war) Oh, and yeah, she was Night's daughter and Eris had many children-like Slaughter, Battle, Lawlessness, Dispute-and I think you know! I really do not have to say much about her, except she was in "Sinbad" the movie, and that she was responsible for causing the Trojan War by her trowing the Golden Apple! But really, what did Eris do? Her name in Roman is Discordia.

Hestia
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of the Hearth
Ahhh...Hestia is a grat goddess. She was practically the Goddess of the Home and the Hearth. In ancient Greece, people made sure Hestia accepted a newborn child in a home, which she always did. Hestia was the eldest of the 12 Olympian gods and was also the eldest daughter of Rheia and Kronos. Hestia was known for having a heart made of gold and for being very wise. Of all the gods, she was the most tender and the most forgiving, and...yeah...Hestia was the only child of Rheia and Kronos, because he ate them all. Eww...Well, legends truly said that Hestia's fire was sacred, and she made hearths go warm by a firewheel? Ohhh...well, also, Hestia was one of the 3 Virgin goddesses, but she was gonna get raped or something like that. I'll tell you. There was this party of gods and cool guys only allowed and everybody was drunk-except for Hestia, she was sleeping. So a guy tries to make love and all that, until a donkey brays, wakes Hestia up, and yeah, she screams. Yep, so loud the guy you know, gets scared. I guess that's the time when her virginity is retained. Her name in Roman is...oh yeah...it's Vesta.

Artemis
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of the Hunt
Basically, Artemis was the goddess of the moon. She was the precious daughter of Titaness Leto and Zeus, not a Titan, and Artemis had one brother who was her twin, whose name was Apollo. There is one story showing how cold Artemis was, well, I mean, it was the mom's fault. Who says that their children are better than Leto's? No one! Well, that is because they had a brain, because the people knew they were going to get killed by Artemis and Apollo. Well, Artemis was very cold, but beautiful, and basically was a virgin. She commited a lot of murders. All due to dumbness. In Roman mythology, Artemis' other name was...Diana.

Topic: Godddess of the Moon
Selene was the goddess of the moon. She was one of the daughters of Titans Theia and Hyperion. Selene lived on Earth awhile, and married a guy, who was a mortal, whose name was Endymion, and together, they had 50 daughters. (Wow, that's alot huh?) Heh...so, Selene was also part of the Triple Goddesses, and yeah, she was associated with Hekate. (Yay!) Myths say she rode white horses across heaven. In Roman mythology, Selene is called Luna.

Hekate/Hecate
Now Playing: In Here!
Topic: Goddess of Witchcraft
Hekate...well, she was basically the goddess of withccraft and the daughter of Titans Perses and Asteria, so duh, she was a Titaness too. Many people do think she had some children such as Circe and Medea, but I am on the side of those who believe she was a virgin, because she was...I think...well, I just believe she did not have any children that's all! In ancient Greece...Hekate was a respected goddess and there were legends of her helping people, only those who really believed in her. Statues of Hekate were kept in households to keep away thieves and baddies. Sometimes, people sacrificed food to her but were eaten by the poor. As usual, Hekate was not angered by this, because as to my research, she had a kind heart. But somehow, Hekate is wrapped by mystery. Hakate is a never heard of goddess, to most people who don't even bother to learn about her. Hekate was known to the term "magik" since she today is considered a witch. She is not a witch. She is kind, and I believe there is some sort of religion about her, which I read in a webpage. Hekate is so cool, huh? Her name in Roman mythology was...Trivia.
