Leaning back in his chair Howie sighed. He had money, fame. He could have anything or anyone he wanted. He had it all. Yet here he was in the last place he needed to be staring down a glass filled with Tequilla while his life, like everything around him was spinning out of control.
"You know drinking won't make your problems go away" said Lisa.
"Who says I have problems" said Howie.
"Anyone drinking a Tequilla at nine in the morning has problems. You know sometimes it helps to talk."
"Talk, yeah" said Howie running his finger around the rim of the glass.
"Hey, I'm a friend, I'm a good listener."
"You ever disappeared" said Howie.
"Well that's a strange question."
"I wish I could just disappear."
"Now why would someone like you want to disappear. From what I read you seem to have it made these days."
"The only thing I have is cameras shoved in my face, fans waiting for autographs and a family waiting for something that will never happen and a..."
"And what?"
"Nothing" said Howie pouring another shot of Tequilla.
"Don't leave me hanging here, and what." said Lisa.
"And a love for something that can never be" said Howie.
"Something, or someone" said Lisa.
"What does it matter."
"No one said life was easy."
"Yeah, well no one said I had to play anymore" said Howie downing the Tequlia in one swift movement. "Bring me another bottle will you" said Howie.
"Are you sure that's such a good idea."
"I'm the boss. Hand me the Tequilla and butt out" said Howie.
"Whatever you say. So this someone. She must be special." said Lisa placing the bottle on the bar.
"They are. I, I never said it was someone."
"Why can't the two of you be together" said Lisa.
"Carrie, can you get that stock in the back put away" said Jim. Watching as she left he knew she was right. The alcohol, all of it. It wasn't going to change the fact that he was in love with his best friend. That his best friend was straight. Placing the money down on the counter Howie staggered to his feet as reached for his keys.
"What, you were going to leave without saying goodbye" said Carrie.
"Thanks for the little chat. I think I'm going to be going" said Howie.
"Your not seriously going to drive are you" said Carrie.
"Why not."
"Because your drunk."
"I haven't had that much too drink, I'll be fine. Why should you care anyway" said Howie.
"I don't want to see you kill someone, namely yourself. Come on, hand over your keys said Carrie.
"I don't think so. Look lady, this is my life, not yours. What I do with it is my business, ok" said Howie.
"Is their a problem Carrie?"
"No Dave, everything is fine" said Carrie.
"If he's getting rowdy we can take him in" said Dave.
"Oh, no. He's my boyfriend. He just had a little too much to drink. I'm going to take him home" said Carrie.
"Did I hear you say you were leaving" said Jim.
"Yeah, I'm just going to take my boyfriend here home. He's in no shape to drive."
"
