"I don't think me coming was such a good idea. This is a family thing" said Howie.
"You are family. Besides what would you do your family is in Jamaica, or wherever it is they went" said Nick.
"Bahamas, their in the Bahamas. I don't want to cause any problems."
"Their won't be any problems. My parent's won't start anything in front of my grandmother. Trust me, the last thing want is for her to know. Don't worry, we'll enjoy some food. Spend some time with my grandmother and then we can go home and have our own little celebration" said Nick kissing Howie.
"You going to stand out there all day kissing Howie" said Aaron poking his head out the window as he frowned.
"If I feel like it" said Nick.
"Yeah well, do you have to do it in front of everyone because it's weird" said Aaron.
"If you hand't been spying you wouldn't have seen."
"Aaron what are you doing in the window. You were supposed to be helping your sister" said Jane.
"Nick's here, their outside kissing."
"Would you get out of the window please" said Jane.
"Hey mom."
"I would appreciate it if you would refrain from doing that in front of your brother" said Jane.
"Where's dad?"
"He went to pick some things up. Your here for your grandmother. Don't run this for her" said Jane.
"I thought I heard voices out here. We're you not going to say hello to your grandmother."
"I was getting there. How are you?"
"I would be fine if your mother would stop hovering over me. Come on, you two can help me in the kitchen. Howie it's nice to see you. I was hoping Nick would bring you, sit. I sense some tension between your mother and you."
"It's nothing" said Nick
"This nothing involves you and Howie, doesn't it."
"Why would you think that" said Nick nervously.
"She doesn't approve of the two of you."
"The two of us. You know about, Howie." said Nick.
"I see the way the two of you look at each other. It's the same way I looked at your grandfather. I just have on thing to say. You had better give me grandchildren. Sooner than later. You know I'm not getting any younger. I hear your father. Come on, let's get this pie on the table so we can eat."
"Everyone take a seat and pass your plates.
Watching as the food passed back and forth the tension seemed to build as no one spoke.
"So, your really gay" said Leslie breaking the silence.
"Yeah."
"And you love Howie?"
"Yes."
"Wow! I think that's so cool. It's like one of those fairytale movies. Where some knight in shining armour comes in and sweeps you off your feet" said Leslie.
"Their is nothing cool about it" said Bob.
"What's the big deal. The only difference in being gay is the way you do it" said Leslie.
"Leslie, that's quite enough" said Jane.
"I should be gay" said Aaron interjecting.
"What did you say" said Jane dropping her fork.
"If the fans thought I was gay we wouldn't have to worry about all these girl showing up at our house" said Aaron.
"Can we not have this discussion. Now everybody eat" said Jane.
"You know I think it's time someone in this family other than Leslie spoke up. I for one think what your doing to your son is wrong. That said, I intend to contemplate my future grandchildren and enjoy Thanksgiving."
"I think I should check on the pies in the oven" said Jane.
"I'll be right back" said Howie.
"What, where are you going?"
"I'm just going to get some more water" said Howie.
"Howie" said Jane startled.
"I think we need to talk."
"Talk, you and I have nothing to say to each other."
"I think we do. He's your son, your supposed to love him" said Howie.
"It's not as simple as that" said Jane.
"It could be. He's hurting, he misses you."
"He brought this on himself. If you could only see what your doing to him. Do you not even care" said Jane.
"I'll leave him. Walk out and never look back. If you'll stop this, treating him like he doesn't exist. Like he's not your son anymore."
"You would do that" said Jane.
"I'd do anything. I love him. When you love someone you want them to be happy" said Howie.
"And what happens when your on tour. You see him everyday. How do I know you would keep your word."
"I'll do whatever it takes. I don't care if I have to loose him" said Howie.
"You'll clear your stuff out and leave?"
"I'll be out by morning" said Jane.
"Fine his father and I will have a talk with him. I must say I admire you for doing the right thing. Nothing good could come of this. And the sooner Nick realizes that the better off he will be."
"What it's like. I mean does it feel different than..."
"What's what like?"
"You know, sex" said Aaron.
"Whoa! Where is this coming from."
"I don't know. I was just wondering and all" said Aaron.
"I suppose it the same as it is for anyone" said Nick.
"But is it different, than like being with a girl" said Aaron.
"I don't know I've never slept with a girl."
"Never. Your first time was with Howie" said Aaron.
"No, Gerald."
"Who's Gerald?"
"Some kid who lived next door to us when I was 14" said Nick.
"14? Holy shit, you lost your virginity at 14. Does mom know" said Aaron.
"No, but she will if you don't keep it down."
"Wow! I'm 13 and I don't even really know what I'm doing" said Aaron.
"Doing? Your having sex" exlaimed Nick.
"What, God no. Hillary and I we wouldn't."
"Geez, you scared me there. I know when your dating someone it's easy to get carried away but your too young to be having sex" said Nick.
"You did."
"Yeah, well I didn't know what I was doing either. Look, just take your time, make sure it's right."
"Are you and Howie right" said Aaron.
"Yes."
"But dosen't it feel weird, to like be attracted to men" said Aaron.
"No. Being gay, it's who I am. I could no more be attracted to a girl than you could to a guy" said Nick.
