Landforms - generally mountainous, consists of Innuitian Mountains - Eroded by glaciers four times - Has mainly sedimentary rock and metamorphic rock, and rock from the Canadian Shield - has glaciers, icecaps, valleys (result of erosion by glaciers) and many glacial deposits Climate - Extremely long winters, cold and harsh (-40 degrees Celsius) - short and cool summers (5 degrees Celsius) - average annual temperature is -20 degrees Celsius - 250mm of precipitation annually, on average (with the exception of Labrador, which part of the ecozone is located on) Natural Vegetation - Ice and exposed bedrock makes up 75% of the landscape - Ice caps are common in the North and glaciers are more common in the south - even adaptable lichens have little presence in this ecozone - inhabitable place for most plants and animals - very little topsoil formation - Arctic Poppies, Arctic Willow, Cotton Grass are few plants that flourish Human Activities - Main activities are trapping, fishing, and hunting - One of the world’s most sparsely populated regions - Only 1000 people live in this ecozone - Some mining development, government activites and services
