Lately I have been searching for a new band to play with. It has been about 3 years since I was in Angelic Descent and it is time to get back with a group. Many attempts have been made at finding a new group but nothing seems to have clicked yet. I remain hopeful and am excited as today I am meeting up with some people that look very promising! I will keep you up to date about how that pans out.

So far all goes well with the new band. We all seem to get along pretty well and work well together. For lack of a better name, we are called DD-214. For those of you who were never in the military - DD-214 is the name of the navy's discharge paper. We were sittin around one night tossin name ideas back and forth and DD-214 was jokingly suggested and it just stuck. We played our first gig this past friday. We actually went out and played instead of just playing for the neighbors next door. It was for a party out in the boonies. And despite the fact that we just played an hour or two before the PAID band got there and for half an hour after said PAID band left and despite the fact that said PAID band was just two guys with acoustic guitars playing songs from folk to dave matthews and despite the fact that we had to even PAY FOR OUR BEER, It went pretty well. People even seemed to really like our original song we just finished. The other band even said we sounded great and couldn't believe this was our first time playin for people. So things are going good and we are all looking forward to what's next.

HOLY ****! Has it really been a whole year that I have been neglecting you guys?? I must really pay more attention to this site! So anyway a whole year and what's going on? NOT MUCH! So you shouldn't feel bad about missing anything ~ ha ha. Well the band broke up...prolly about 8 months ago...you know the usual reasons (Jimmy quit, Joey got married) no I jest. But same basic kind of thing, two guys got transfered so that took care of that. The remaining guy and I get together once in a while, but as the song goes, he got married so it's not often. But we did have fun while it lasted so that was good.

Interesting side note here....I did get mail...I won't say hate mail, but it wasn't happy mail, from a guy in the military DEMANDING we change our DD-214 name because he has a band by that name in North Carolina or somewhere and he was rather offended that we infringe on HIS copyrighted name. To that I have to say that ONE we never recorded any songs or handed out fliers advertising us as DD-214, TWO all we did was play for our friends...in their backyards or at their neighbors house when they had a party, never getting paid I might add, and THREE we NEVER took the name DD-214 seriously. We were sitting around one day trying to come up with a name and our drunk neighbor walked by and said it and we all laughed it off but it kinda stuck for lack of anything better coming up. Certainly not a name we would use if we were to record anything because we have more respect for our non-job lives than to be that hard core about the military. Nuff said. Offensive if this guy comes back to read this? Maybe. Do I really care? Definitely not.

Anyway, I thought you would be as amused about it as I was.

So that's what is going on here lately, the band has...well, disbanded, work still sucks and if you were to come over you'd find guitar books strewn all about with me somewhere in the middle of it with a beer in hand.
Oh yeah, and I promise to check in more than once a year!
