When She was Bad- 9-15-97

Its been a quite summer in Sunnydale. Buffy has been away in Los Angeles visting her dad and vampire actvity has been non-existent. Just as things apper to be heating up between Xander and Willow with their first kiss, a vampire shows up to spoil the moment. Within seconds, Buffy is back on the scene to dust the vamp, but not everything is back to normal. Coming back to Sunnydale includes a lot of baggage, and Buffy semes distant. Its turns out that death and resurrcetion aren't events easy for a 16-year-old to come to terms with, and Buffy has some major issues to work through. When the Anointed One exhumes the Master's bones and plans to resurrect him, Buffy's training gets as intense as her dispostion gets nasty. But when Willow, Cordelia, Giles and Ms. Calendar are abducted to complete the ritual, Buffy springs into Slayer mode and finnaly breaks down when it is all over, working through her emotional turmoil by pulverizing the Master's skeletal remains.

When a girl killed in a car accident is dragged from her grave, bodies start to dissappear from the morgue and the parts of other corpses begin popping up in dumpsters, the genral consensus is that there is either an army of zombies or a flesh-eating demon on the loose. Wrong! It's actually a misguided yearbook guy, Chris Epps, and his goulish friend Eric, trying to build a zombie dream woman for his undeda and ever lonely brother Darly. While limiting parts scavenging to previous deceased young ladies, Daryl thinks Coredelia's head would make the perfect topping for his "new" girlfirned. Chris draws the line at murder, but Daryl and Eric are on a mission that only Buffy may be able to stop.

Angel's old pals from his hell-rasing days, Spike and Drusilla, show up in town looking for fresh blood and set up camp with the Anoited One. Spike reassures the tyke that he will kill the Slayer on the night of St, Vigeous-a big day among the vampire set. Egar ro bag his thrid Slayer, Spike and his posse crash the school on parent-teacher night to find Buffy, but seeing her daughter in peril Joyce Summers cracks Spike in the back of the head with an axe and sends him running. Irritated, Spike takes out his frsutration on the Anointed One, while the offical story back at the crime scene is that a gang High on PCP was responsiable for the damage. APparently, there's a conspiracy brewing in Sunnydale and Snyder is in on it.

On the bright side, the new object of Xander's affection is a bright pretty girl who's not another giant bug-woman. Unfortunately, she's a mummy who feeds oin the life force of others to stay alive- his bad luck with romance persists. Brought back to life when a troublemaking student tries to steal a plate from her crypt, the mummy girl passes herself off as the exchange student Buffy's mom was expecting, Ampada. Though she didn't have much baggage, Ampada did come with a machete-weilding mad-man, who keeps jumping out of the bushes trying to return her to the tomb.

Cordelia's dating a smarmy frat guy whose charming friend, Tom has his eye on Buffy, so she recruits the Slayer to join her at a Delta Zeta Kappa party. Always suspicious of anything male anywhere near Buffy, Xander also infiltratres the kegger, is soon discovered and ejected at about the same time nice guy Tom turns out to be not so nice and drugs Buffy's drink. Waking up chained to a basement wall in-between Cordelia and another girl, Buffy relaizes how twisted Tom actually is when he offers the girls as a sacrifical foder to Machida- a half man, half- snake demon. Angel and the rest of the gang arrive to break up the party.

Halloween is a traditionally slow day for vampire activity, but when trick-or-treaters actually start to become the characters their disguised as, there's no shortage of wierdnes. Willow becomes a ghost, Xander becomes Rambo, and Buffy's a girl-just like the ones Angel used to date. It turns out that all of the mystical costumes can be traced back to Ethan's Costume Shop, whose proprietor not only dabbles in casting spells, but is also an old aquaintence of Giles.

It's tough enough finding out that your boyfriend was once a psychotic killer-let alone an active vampire-without having to hear the details about his former loves. But when Buffy learns of Angel's past infatuation with Drusilla and the dastardly things he did en route to make her a vampire, the Slayer's already crazy life gets even more complicated. IOt gets worse, however, when an old friend of Buffy's, Billy "Ford" Fordham, shows up in twon and turns out to be the ringleader of a group of mislead vampire wnna-be's. Ford cuts a deal with Spike to trade him the Slayer in exchange for a set of permanent fangs, but when Buffy wind of the plan and rushes to confront him, she walks right into a trap. Learning the sad truth behind Ford's obsession with immortality, Buffy manages to escape, but ford gets left behind as Spiek and Drusilla's "dinner" guest.

The Dark Age- 11-10-97 Vampire kill(s):1

Philip Henry is frantically looking for Giles, but before he can find him, he gets caught by a zombie in what turns out to be a deadly game of freeze tag. Identifying his old friend at the mourge, Giels explains that they were both once part of the smae circle of friends who, in younger days, experimented with demon possession. Identifying them by tier tattoos-the mark of Eygon- the demon is back and methodically possessing and killing them one by one. Costume shop porprietor Ethan also returns, revealing more about his and Giels's past, but when Buffy is protecting him, he doublecorsses her and removes his own with acid. It turns out to be Jenny Calendar, however, who is the next to feel the wrath of Eyghon when she inadvertently gets in the body-jumping demon's way and not only becomes possessed, but develops a really bad skin condition. Miss Calendar is freed when Angel steps in to attack the demon by leting it enter his body. Though she's saved, Calendar can't forgive Giules for putting her in harm's way.

Buffy's classmate discover own destinies courtesy of career aptitude tests, while SPike is hard at work trying to get a vampire version of Giles to translate an ancient text which will retsore Durcilla's health. Spike has also called the Order of Taraka-a trio of vicious demon assassins-to keep Buffy from interfearing with his plans-or doing anything else ever again. One of the demons is a tall drink of water with a bad attitude, the other is a "wormy" salesman-type, and the third appears to be a mysterious woman who emerges from the cargo hold of a plane. While the first two begin their search-and-destory missions for Buffy, the third seems more interested inkilling Angel and leaves him locked in a cage slowly filling with sunlight. She then confronts Buffy, battling her to a draw before introducing herself as Kendra-the vampire Slayer.

What's My Line (part II)- 11-24-97 Vampire kill(s):1

Apparently Buffy's breif death at the hands of the Master activated the next Slayer to take her place. As the two Slayers sort though the confusion this causes, Buffy discovers Angel's impending doom. She and Kendra rush to save him, but by the time they arrive, he's already handed over to Spike, who intends to sacrfice Angel as a way of restoring Drucilla's helath. Meanwhile, the thrid member of the Order of Taraka suprises Buffy by surfacing at the career fair. The stress of the situation also casuses Xander and Cordelia's passion to cross the fine line between love and hate as they begin pratice of making out in the closets. The two Slayers aslo form an alliance(and a friendship) as they team up to stop the acrifice and mistakenly leave Spike and Drucilla for dead.

Everyone thinks Buffy's mom's new boyfriend, Ted, is the perfect guy. He's nice (in a Stepford sort of way), he can cook (though his cookies are laced with tranquilizers), and he has a good job selling computer software( one of those annoying telemaketers0. The only one who doesn't adore him is Buffy, who has seen Ted's tightly-wound side first hand. When Ted actually slaps Buffy across her face, Buffy gets the opening she was looking for and kicks the crap out of him, apparently killing him. Having never witnessed Ted's dark side Mother Summers is none to pleased with her beau's untimely demise. Then the rest of the gang discovers that not only had Ted been married before, but that his first three wives are dead-and still in his closte. When Ted walks out of the mourge, its claer he's more than just a selling machine.

Bad Eggs- 12-12-97 Vampire kill(s):1

A high school parenting project intended to show teens how difficult partenting can be turns bad when the eggs the students are supposed to protect begin to hatch. Inside are creepy crawlie Bezoars which attach to human hosts and turn them into zombie-esqe workhorses havesting more eggs. Luckily, Buffy discivers her egg is roten before it can cling to her, nad since Xander;s idea of rasing a child is hard-boiling it, they are the only two people who can stop the insanity. Thier goal is complicated, however when Lyle and Tector Gorch- a pair of tough but extreamly stupid vampires-attack Buffy while she's trying to free her friends from the Mother Bezor's control. Both Tector and Buffy are sucked into the Mother Bezor's slimy pit, but only the Slayer comes back out.

Surprise- 1-19-98 Vampire kill(s):4

It's going to be a birthday Buffy never foregets. The fate fo the world is at stake as Spike and Drucilla gather the body of the Judge-an immortal demon so evil, he was dismembered and his parts scattered to keep him from terrorizing the planet ever again. Meanwhile, Calendar is vistied by her gypsy uncle, who instructs her to see that Angel, the vampire that killed her ancestor, keeps his cursed soul intact. With gypsies plotting the end of her love-life, vampires plotting the end of her life-life, and her friends plotting the surprise party of her life, Buffy intercepts a box containing one of the Jude's arms. Calendar suggests that Angel take the box to Asia to keep the Judge from being reanimated (and maintain the curse. As Angel is about to board a ship, however, Spike's minions overpower Buffy and Angel, and reclaim the arm. Emotionally exhausted from the days events, Buffy and Angel go back to his place and give in to their desires. Having experianced happiness, however, Angel awakes in pain and crying Buffy's name.

Buffy's evening with Angel has extiunguished his human soul and restored his bloodthirsty vampire nature. Even the humanity-snuffing Judge can find no trace of decency in him as Angel rampages leaving Buffy in tears and nearly biting Willow. Meanwhile, Giles's relationship with Calendar is severed when her gypsy ties to Angel are exposed, and Willow's crushed when she discovers Xander's been secretly smooching Coredeila. Saving the human race takes precedence, however, as Xander reverts to his Halloween guise to gather the military hardware to stop the Judge.

Hary, smelly, rude and a ravenous appetite-sound likea typical teenage boy. Unfortunately the teenager in question is also a werewolf who is terrorizing the twon and no one knows for sure who it is. While a loud mouth letch named Larry seems to be the best candidate, Xander uncovers his sensitive side and takes him off the list of suspects. Aside from bad manners and some property damage, the werewolf turns out to be innocent, but also Willow's new boyfriend(Oz even confirms the recessive lycanthrope gene by calling his Aunt). Its actually vampires that have been thinning the populations. The reace is then on to protect Oz from a werewolf poacher, but the have to find him first.

Cordelia succumbs to the peer pressure of her snooty friends and dumps Xander on Valentine's Day. so he turns to Amy Madison-a witch- to help him get even. He convinces Amy to cast a spell on Cordelia which will make her fall in love with him, but the spell misfires, and every woman in Sunnydale except Cordelia begins to Xander in a whole new light. HIs obsessive admires include Willow, Miss Calendar, Buffy, Buffy's mom, and Drucilla among others, and each will stop at nothing to have him-even if it involoves killing him.

Angel's obsession with driving Buffy mad get more dangerous when he starts striking closer to her heart and home. HIs antics range from creepy-sneaking into Buffy's bedroom late at night and sketching her, to embarrassing-telling Buffy's mom that he slept with her daughter, to sadistic-killing Willow's fish. When Angel discovers Calendar is attempting to translate the spell needed to restorehis soul, however, ANgel stops playing around. Showing up at the school, he destorys her computer, burns her printout and viciously snaps Calendar's neck, wickedly deposting her corpse in Giles' bed. When the librarian finds the body of his beloved, he snaps. Devistaed by the news, Buffy, and the gang rush to Giels's home, but he has all ready gone after Angel to exact his revenge. What goes unnoticed, however, is a back up disc containing the spell Jenny was deciphering sitting nestled behind her desk.

Buffy's Slayign skills are dulled by a nasty strain of flu that has half the school under the weather. Severely weakened by a skirmish with Angel, her friends manage to chase the vampire away and take the nearly concious Buffy to the Hospital. Afaraid of Hospitals since her cousin Celia diesd in on e as a child and anxious to leave, her recuperaion is furthr hampered by the apperance of a gastly bogeyman creature named the Kindestod, who feasts on sick children-the only people, besides the feveraddled Buffy, who areable to see him.Realizing that it was the Kindestod that killed Celia, a nearly recovered Buffy intentionally swallows a dose of the virus needed to induce the feaverish state that allows her to see the otherwise iinvisiable monster before he can murder any more innocent children.

As the sadie Hawkins dance draws closer, disturbingly sinmilar lovers's quarrels are getting down right homicidal. Piecing the crime together through day-dreams, Buffy deduces that it is a poltergiest reenacting the events of a murder-suicide brought on by a teacher-student relation affair gone horribly wrong back in 1955. It seems that when the teacher ended the relationship, her obsessive young lover shot her then turned the gun on himself. With his tortured spirit trapped in the school until he is granted forgive ness, Giles leades an attempt to exorcising the gost, but the gang is driven away and the school sealed off by a sswarm of wasps. When a strange voice summons Buffy back to the scholl, the gosts use her and Angel to reenact the final murderous confrontation. When his homicidal act is forgiven by the victim, however the poltergiest is freed, leaving Angel and Buffy surprised and terriably disturbed to find themselfves back in each others arms.

With the help of some steroid aromatherapy, the swim team has been blwoing the competition out of the water. Xander dona a Speedo to go undercover as the newst memeber of the swim team, discovering the side-effect of the preformance enhancer is that it turns swimmers into slimer fishmen a la the Black Lagoon. When Buffy confronts Coach Marin about his swimmers' bizarre condition, her tries to make her fish food.

Through out this episode, Angel's past is revealed from the first time he was bitten to his first mental torture of Drucilla, the restoration of his soul by gypsies and to finally being down and out in the gutter of New York. But while the blanks of Angel's past are filled in, the monster he is today steals an ancient sarcophagus with the owner to suck the entire world into Hell. Just as Willow finds the computer disc contating the spell to restore Angel's soul, Buffy has already set out to destroy him. While racing to stop his evil plan, however, Drucilla kills Kendra, who was sent out to help Buffy, Giles is kidnapped, Xander and Willow are injured and Buffy is framed as Kendra's murderer.

Not only is Buffy charged with keeping the world from being sucked into Hell, she's also a fugitive. As Giles is tortured by Angel and Drucilla into telling them the finaly piece of the spell Hell, Buffy froms an alliance with Spike to do away with ANgel 9 he doesn't like the competion for Dru's attention).The unlikely duo hatch a plan at Buffy's house ( where she dusts a vampire in front of her shocked mother). Rushing to the mansion, Buffy gains the upper hand against Angel just as Willow compleates the spell to restore his soul, but not before he opens the portal that only his blood can close.
