Get a partner and a piece of the cut butcher paper.  There are pens, crayons, & markers up front for you to use.  Both partners must contribute to the picture and help to write an explanation of the drawing for tomorrow.

Activity:  Drawing a picture to represent a scene/chapter in the book.  Students will pair off and draw a picture from a section of the book that I give them.  Try to show characters involved, the setting, and any other details from the book in that scene.  I will give each pair a chapter so that all sections of the book will have illustrations.  They can either draw a summary picture or a specific scene in that chapter.  They can use markers, crayons, pens, or paints to draw, paint or otherwise represent the scene.  The students must then work together to produce a written explanation of the picture.  The following day they will present the painting to the rest of the class with their explanation.  They will answer questions about their picture, why they chose to draw certain things and not others.  Why they chose to draw the scene/s they did.
