A Simple Promise
By Jimmy Sprayberry

As the planes fly high,
And America shows no fear.
Terrorists plot a horrible tragedy,
That shall soon be near.

"We will break their hearts,
And fear will cross all faces."
But after the attack was done,
Americans never lost their places.

We cried, wept, and mourned,
For all who are no longer alive.
And swore to make them pay,
One hundred over times five.

"This day will live in infamy."
Said a wise, and great man.
"This tragedy shall be remembered,
Throughout all a brave and mighty land."

We will not be broken,
Or ever show signs of fear.
We will make them pay,
With that which they hold so dear."

As America pulls together,
To count the dead and soon to depart.
Our military will cross the seas,
To search for the bleak and cold at heart.

Away the Marines go to fight,
As terrorists scatter the countryside.
With these brave men goes a message,
"You can run, but never again shall you hide."

For we are America,
Land of the proud, strong, and free.
And you may never again do a single thing
That will ever put a burden upon me.

To all those who lost someone they love,
On this day of great sorrow and pain.
I say this to you now,
Their deaths shall not be in vain.

For America will not be broken,
Or ever show signs of fear.
And I promise we will make them pay greatly,
With that which they hold so dear.

In memory of all those who lost their lives,
And also to those being put to the ultimate test.
I pray for God to be with you all…
And may flights of angels wing thee to thy rest.

Me (left) and my little brother (right). This picture was taken on Christmas Day of 2000. Since then, I have cut my hair, and I have also gotten a few tattoos.

This is just one of my twisted pieces of art. It is not the best drawing in the world, but I think it gives a pretty good idea of the type of person I am. I have more drawings that I may be posting on my page later, but for now, this is all I have.

I have recently joined the United States Marine Corp. I will be leaving for Boot Camp on July 15, 2002.
