Nike (the "Hero")
He is the hero of our story. Raised in Jimina Village by a pair of overly enthusiastic parents, he was put through several harsh ordeals to become a good "hero". Now that Devil Lord Giri has awakened and there's actually need for a hero, Nike's father is especially insistent that his son go forth on a quest to defeat him and be a good hero. Nike leaves on the quest…not out of a sense of duty, but just to get the hell away from his crazy parents ^^; He's a bit lazy, perverse, and not all that serious about his quest, though… When the story starts out, he's thirteen, but since this is shown in SD mode, he always looks about 7 or 8.
Kukuri (the "Sorceress")
She was raised in the forest of Jimina Village inside a house with an old witch her entire childhood. This was because she was the last remaining member of the MiguMigu tribe, a race of sorcerers who use GuruGuru magic. Little is known about GuruGuru magic (all that was left with Kukuri was an incomplete book), so it's up to Kukuri to discover secrets to GuruGuru on her own. She's chosen to join Nike on his quest (since it was the MiguMigu tribe who defeated Giri 300 years ago), and during the quest, she is also expected to perfect her magic. GuruGuru spells are done by drawing circular symbols on the ground with a staff. Kukuri is given a few from her book, but the rest she discovers hidden in nooks in various villages and also from within herself.
Runrun (of the Black Magic Association)
A user of black magic, she helps Nike and Kukuri on their quest. She likes to be serious and cool, but it's difficult to do so when your master has turned into a poodle and you're surrounded by idiots and general insanity ^^; And to make matters worse, she has the incredibly silly name, "Runrun", which she desperately tries to keep secret. (In Japanese, "runrun" is sort of sound effects for "tralala" or "ho-hum"… so it would be a very embarrassing name ^^;)
 Toma
Earlier on in the quest, Nike and Kukuri meet this young boy (about 10? I forget…) then later on, they meet up with him again. He decides to go into the trade of making magical artifacts and items (many of which Nike and Kukuri end up using).
Juju (The "Lunar" of the Plato Religion)
A verrrrry creepy girl… She's usually in a daze, but sometimes can get very violent. As a "Lunar" of the Plato Faith, she is able to communicate with God and do other sorts of magical things.
Rajini (A black magic user)
A friend of the Master of the Black Magic Association, this man hides in Shugi Village, a highly religious area. It's extremely dangerous for him to do so, but no one's discovered him yet… despite the fact that his house is decked in black magic artifacts ^^; He is Kukuri's second trainer.
Gatari (an ex-priest)
He used to serve the king of Kodai back when the MiguMigu tribe was still alive. However, he deserted his king and humankind in general, when they turned against the MiguMigu tribe. He now lives off by himself near the "Endless Tower" along with a bunch of KemKem. For a huge fee (50,000 rin), he will go through a procedure that will draw out ones true power… the procedure is hilarious (naturally ^_-)
Clemente (Head Master at the White Magic Association)
Not much of the story features him, but he is the head of the White Magic Association (opposite of the Black Magic Association). Basically, those who train in White Magic are training to be Heroes. Boys and girls alike are part of the association.
Gochinko (A sword master)
The man who trained Nike how to better use his sword. His name is extremely hilarious because if the "Go" is dropped, it becomes "chinko", which is Japanese for "penis". On his business, he has "Gochinko's Training Studio" in big letters… but the "Go" always seems to keep falling off, turning it into "Penis Training Studio"… ^^; Once, he even got a customer who wanted to learn how to "make his penis stronger".
"O-kashira" (The boss of some bandits)
It's later discovered that perhaps Nike's true profession is not a "Hero", but a "Bandit" instead. He sort of has bad principles and has a knack for stealing things, and for a while, he and Kukuri are adopted by the bandits headed by this man. (His code name is "Sly", but he's mostly called "O-kashira", which means "boss")
Milka (Princess of Copall)
She is given the code name, "Nabe-yaki Hime" (Princess Pot) by O-kashira, when she takes refuge with the bandits for a while. She really likes O-kashira, and Nike really likes her body, and Kukuri really doesn't like that ^_-
Miucha (a Seamstress)
For a while, she couldn't decide on what profession to choose, but when Kukuri took a strong liking to one of the dresses she made, she decides to become a seamstress. She and Kukuri are the same age and look similar, so Kukuri wondered for a while if they were twins…

Monsters, Fairies, and Strange Beings…
The KitaKita Dancing Guy
He does actually have a name, "Adburg Eldor", but it's hardly ever used. Anyway, he comes from a village where there was a famous traditional dance called the "KitaKita". This dance was performed by pretty girls in grass skirts and it created a booming tourist industry for the little village… until the village stopped giving birth to girls. The villagers realized it was probably the gods punishing them for using a traditionally religious dance for profit. With no more girls left to dance, and a theater full of angry patrons on his hands, the then mayor of the village took it upon himself to carry on the tradition and dance the KitaKita dance… in the traditional grass skirt ^^; He's always looking for reasons to butt in on Nike and Kukuri and join their quest and dance.
 Gipple (A Fairy)
This is a fairy who sort of guides and helps the two during their quest… though he usually flees at any sign of trouble ^^; Underneath his flowing cloak, he wears nothing but a loincloth, which can get pretty creepy when he expands his cloak to become a tent for the travelers… Yeah, a look up at the ceiling reveals some naked guy wearing a loincloth… But he is handy because he can carry a bunch of stuff under his cloak.
He also despises corny scenes! Whenever there's a moment's seriousness or a blatantly corny line, Gipple usually appears with a look of horror and disgust on his face ^-^.
The "Sappari" Fairies
This is a mysterious fairy who appears every time a "sappari" sort of situation occurs. "Sappari" has no real good English equivalent, so I left the word "sappari" as is in the translations. You'll discover what it means eventually (through exposure), but it sort of means "refreshing" or "blank" or even "unfortunate". Usually, it comes up as "weird" or "uncomfortable" or "unsure" in the story, and the Sappari Fairy dances across the screen saying "Ahhhh, sappari, sappari!" as the other characters stand with blank expressions and sweat droplets on their heads ^^;
Mogel (A Plant Fairy)
An extremely adorable fairy who lives inside the "Endless Tower". He can make excellent weapons and armor out of plant material… but is easily deceived. The KitaKita Dancing Guy convinced him that HE was the leader of the main party ^^; Also, he always takes what other people say literally. Like when the KitaKita Dancing Guy said, "Your house is so nice, I could live here forever," Mogel got very excited and forced him to move in ^^;
"Master" (of the Black Magic Association
Everyone simply calls this poodle "Master". We don't know his real name. He was cursed and turned into a poodle; he's actually a normal guy, though. He seems to like petty insults and fart jokes, though ^-^v
KemKem
Sweet fuzzy monsters who LOVE changing people's clothes. They go out every day and collect clothing and items, and much of the clothing they collect they put on others.
Planano (Plant Queen)
She controls all of the plants in the world. Her hair streams out into the ground and connects to all the root systems… so if she's in trouble, ALL plant life dies O_o When a shocking event makes the cute, innocent girl turn back into a baby, Nike and Kukuri become her "parents" to raise her into an adult queen again. Click on her picture and you'll see the result…
Kuljay (daughter of the Earth King)
There's a little pun with her name. Since she comes from the "ElEl Desert", she could be called "ElEl Kuljay" (…read that out loud and you'll discover it's in fact "L.L. Cool J"… yeah, as in the rapper ^^;) She usually goes around the desert selling bells that ward off desert monsters and tries to help the hopeless Nike and Kukuri in their search for the Earth King.
Nanakona (a monster)
At one point of the quest, Nike and Kukuri visit a land filled with good monsters, and Nanakona is the daughter of their leader. Awwww, she's so cute >v<
Reido (one of Giri's minions)
A not very effective antagonist ^^; Mainly because he has a soft spot for Kukuri even though he's supposed to kill her. He would have no problem with killing Nike, though ^-^. A very cute villain who messes up a lot…
Chikuri-ma (a monster)
She is a bit of a lazy monster… I don't really know what else to say about her, other than that she's a cute little monster >v<
Kaya (a monster/sorcerer)
He is another one of Giri's minions, who wants to learn about GuruGuru magic and presumably control the world himself. He's a very powerful wizard who used to serve the king of Kodai (while secretly serving Giri at the same time), but Nike and Kukuri exposed him, so he ran away from the king and now exclusively serves Giri…and his own goals…
Dema (a demon)
After Kaya messed up too many times, Dema was appointed to replace him. He's a little less comical than Kaya, but Nike and Kukuri still manage to giggle over him since his head looks like a rat's head… Like Kaya, he tries to be cool in spite of the surrounding insanity, but also like Kaya, he doesn't do too good a job…
