Anime Status: Was an anime 13 episodes long aired on WOWOW at the end of the year 2000. Excess Anime and I made a fansub of the series. A drama CD was also released. All the seiyuu were the same except for Tsuzuki’s and Hisoka’s. Hisoka’s seiyuu was still a girl, but Tsuzuki’s seiyuu was…. OKANO KOUSUKE!! (Yoshikawa Noboru [GTO]’s seiyuu!!! O_o…)

Synopsis:

This is about the after-life, and people dying. (Lovely, isn’t it ^_^)

Hades reflects Earth exactly. Imagine your house sitting on a lake. The reflection in that lake would be what your house is in Hades…makes perfect sense, huh ^^; Juuouchou (the reflection of some capitol in Japan) is an agency in the after-life that does many things. There is Enma-cho (which I call "Hades Agency" in the fansub) where the Shinigami and other dead people work, the Rosoku no Yakata (which I call the "Mansion of Candles" in the fansub), where Hakushaku hangs out and all the deaths of humans are recorded.

The "Shinigami" (rough translation = "Grim Reaper", "Angel of Death") are people who have died and instead of going to Heaven or Hell, they are chosen to lead humans to Hades. (Either humans whose time has come up, or humans who should have died, but didn’t). I suppose the "Shinigami" could also be referred to as "Angels of Death"…but I just kept it as "Shinigami" in the fansub.

The story focuses on Tsuzuki Asato (a Shinigami), his partner, Kurosaki Hisoka (another Shinigami), and the recurring villain Muraki Kazutaka (my personal favorite ^v^) and extreme pain and sorrow from their pasts (especially Tsuzuki). It also has some light moments (that’s what Watari is for ^_-)…a pretty well-balanced story.

The main character. According to Matsushita-sensei, he was originally supposed to be Asuka’s supporting character, but he turned into the main character instead. At first, she thought 26 was a little too old for Tsuzuki, but he turned out to be rather childish anyway, so whatever ^-^. The reason he’s dressed head to toe in black is simply because Matsushita-sensei likes men in black (not the movie; just the concept ^_-) She sometimes draws Tsuzuki like a puppy because she likes dogs. His seiyuu in the anime is Miki Shin’ichiro Kurosaki Hisoka DATE OF DEATH 10/18/1980 BIRTHPLACE Kanagawa BLOOD-TYPE AB HOBBY Reading FAVORITE FOODS Mildly flavored foods (like boiled stuff) FAVORITE COLOR Blue MOTTO "Economize" He has telepathic powers. His original last name was going to be "Haguro", but a friend convinced Matsushita-sensei to change it to "Kurosaki". His seiyuu in the anime is Asano Mayumi Watari Yutaka DATE OF DEATH 4/18/1953 (April 18….that’s Tasuki’s birthday! Matsushita-sensei created Watari to bring some humor to the story and to give the characters a dependable friend. (She also admits she created Watari so he could make inventions that would make her stories easier to write ^_-). His hair is light because he used to swim (when he was still alive) to build up his body and the chlorine bleached his hair O_o. His seiyuu in the anime is Seki Toshihiko

Random info He looks like his mother. He doesn’t like to eat out. He doesn’t smoke because it’s too expensive. His lineage dates back to royalty. The reason the year of his death has a "?" by it was because in volume 6, Matsushita-sensei still wanted to keep it a mystery and reveal it later. He started out as a nameless secretary for the Chief of Enma-cho, but he mutated into a very appealing (Matsushita-sensei loves his looks ^^;) main character. She got the name "Seiichiro" from her friend’s little brother’s name. ^__^ His seiyuu in the anime is Morikawa Toshiyuki Muraki Kazutaka DATE OF DEATH 12/4/1964 BIRTHPLACE Tokyo BLOOD-TYPE A HOBBY Collecting antique dolls FAVORITE FOODS Omelets MOTTO "Bait is needed to catch the fish you want." (He’s my personal favorite >v<). Every story needs a mad-scientist running around ^_-. He went insane because even as a doctor, there were still many things he could not cure (and that every human is doomed to die eventually). He loves to torment Tsuzuki (because Muraki is crazy about Tsuzuki ^_^;) and he’s just generally cool and says many cool lines (it was fun translating him >: )= Matsushita-sensei wanted to make Muraki the exact opposite of Tsuzuki, so she made him all white, rich, and with a rotten personality. The reason he likes to collect antique dolls is because it was his mother’s hobby. His seiyuu in the anime is Hayami Sho. Gushoushin No official "data" known on these guys, but they're cute, so what the heck >v<. There are two of them (one is blue; the other is orange). They work in the documents room at Enmachou. They don't have individual names; they're just called "Ani" and "Otouto" (Elder and Younger).
