E Arborway

E Arborway

After leaving the B, C and D lines at Copley, the E Line tunnel turns under Huntington Ave. Station stops are made at Prudential and Symphony, before the line surfaces in the median of Huntington Av. Here, very early one morning, 3667 stops in front of Northeastern University.

At Brigham Circle, the E Line leaves the centre median to travel in mixed traffic along Huntington and South Huntington Aves to Heath Loop. This five stop street running section is the only one left on the system. Car 3645 is inbound on Huntington at Wait St. It is very rare that LRVs or Type 8s are used on the E line.

On Sunday mornings single units are used to provide 10-11 min headways. 3701 is turning from Huntington to South Huntington. May 2005.

By May 2005,most of the type 7s had been repainted in the teal / silver livery, but a few retained their original green. 3693 still looks pretty good inbound at the Museum of Fine Art stop.

3713 and mate stop at the Back of the Hill stop, just short of Heath Loop. Boarding and alighting at street running stops is only allowed through the front doors.

3612 enters Heath Loop in July 1999. Since then, the track that can be seen here extending past the loop towards Arborway has been paved over and all overhead removed. Trolley service to Arborway has been suspended since 1985 and will probably never return. Boston's last rail abandonment.
