What makes you so special?
Though a smaller label- not boasting a huge roster of bands or a great deal of exposure- Espo Records may very well be one of the best labels out there today. Bands like the Warren Commission and Moment are simply amazing, one of a kind bands that anyone would be lucky just to hear or see live. To think that one of these bands is so good that you'd expect to see them make a leap to a larger label soon, it appears to be that Espo is building such a strong foundation and following that they will soon be the force to mess with. Espo has offered great amounts of creativity in their packaging of certain releases as well, proving that this isn't your typical unknown label in the sense that they just put out releases with a one sided sheet of paper inside telling you the band members, web site and that's all. No, Espo is far more impressive than that. They have made CDs- physically- in a way that no other label can really contend with, from Vagrant all the way up to MCA. That insight that has set their releases apart if they were sitting on a shelf, also is combined with some of the best damn bands that I have ever heard in my life. the Warren Commission is unlike any other band out there, and surely a crowd pleaser. Moment's new release "Songs for the Self Destructive" is easily one I would like to vote to be the soundtrack of my life. Not just because of the title and brilliant lyrics, but also because of the music itself. Moment combines emo, indie rock, punk, pop punk, and even a little hardcore into their passionate plea for success. It's everything that I've liked about music, and all the words I never could express rolled into one great CD. If you're looking for any of these bands to "blow up" any time soon by going on to larger labels, I would rather suggest that you wait for Espo Records themself to "blow up", as by this time next year, they may easily be the most talked about, sought after label that everyone is buying their music from. If you've never heard the Warren Commission before, or if you're wondering what all the fuss is about Moment, jump over to their web site and pick up some music by them. Their site even allows you to download songs, so you can get a feel of what you're in for before you decide to buy. Trust me, the good people at Espo are not paying me to say this. This is not a commercial or advertisement. This is simply my message to you. Espo Records is one of my favorite labels out there right now, and soon, they will be yours too.
