Dead to Fall Everything I Touch Falls to Pieces
Victory Records

Not that long ago, four new bands signed to Victory Records: Taking Back Sunday, Snowdogs, Atreyu and Dead to Fall. The three bands that are not Dead to Fall have since put out their Victory debuts with mixed reactions from the masses, including but not limited to myself.

Now, the fourth amongst this bunch, is titled "Everything I Touch Falls to Pieces" by Dead to Fall. If I wasn't such a huge fan of Atreyu, I'd say they saved the best for last.

"Everything I Touch Falls to Pieces" starts with an intro. A lot of bands in recent memory have had intros, most of which I have not been a huge fan of in the least. To any band who has attempted an intro recently which I have shot down (basically any band that isn't Fall Silent or Prevent Falls) and to the bands that are sitting there right now thinking about it, listen to Dead to Fall show all the suckas how it's really done. I just needed to get that out. I always take the time to shoot down intros and this is one of the best in recent memory, so it deserved the paragraph. It deserves it.

Now onto the music. Let me tell you. I knew that Atreyu would do something amazing for Victory. I expected nothing less from Dead to Fall either. But, alas, they have surprised me as this has surpassed anything that I could have ever expected from this band. I thought it would be along the lines of just a metalcore band or whatever, and just something to bring back the mosh to Victory, but I never expected to like it this much. From the crazy guitars to the thundering bass, this band does what every band on Ferretstyle and Trustkill and the like does only within one song. Pure brutality for all.

The first song "Memory" contains the tag line "Everything I touch falls to pieces", and man, just to hear that is worth putting on this CD alone. But it just seems that the deeper you get into this, the angrier it gets. And the more angry it gets, the more intense it grows. And then the more it just becomes all that you are and all that you are doing at that particular moment, to the point where you forget where you are or what you're doing.

This is a metalcore fan's wet dream. At the same time, anyone who likes angrier, heavy music will get what they deserve from Dead to Fall.
