When I bought this CD, I was expecting it to suck for two reasons: one, because everyone that I know has told me it sucked and two, because I liked the first one so much that I didn't think another CD could even come close to surpassing the brilliance of the last release. So when I listened to it for the first time, you can only imagine how surprised I was. Everyone was way wrong because this CD kicks so much ass. It has ten songs including new versions of "Screaming Infidelities" and "Again I go Unnoticed" that include percussion, which makes them sound so good. In fact, Chris really opted for more songs with other instruments and faster paced rhythms rather than just doing the raw, slow, acoustic thing again. And that was a bold step that could have easily backfired on him and made him lose some fans, but after hearing this, I am an even greater fan and I know all the other fans are too after seeing him a couple weeks ago. I think he was also going for a more assertive sound as far as lyrics go instead of the sad, whiny ones of the last release. I mean, with lines like "so kiss me hard, cuz this will be the last time that I let you" that are said at a really explosive part of the song, it really molds the whole CD into this assertive, aggressive, stunning piece of work. And I don't mean aggressive as in "hardcore punk" aggressive, I just mean he gets his message across clearly and confidently in very creative, rather brilliant chords of music and harmonic lyrics and vocals. This CD has everything, from the slow acoustic sound we have come to know and love like "This Ruined Puzzle" to the now faster, upbeat tracks like "Saints and Sailors" and "The Good Fight", which have become two of my favorites. So, in closing, there is nothing dissatisfying about this CD and it has been out for a while so if it is not already a part of your collection, GO GET IT!!
