Cadillac Blindside "These Liquid Lungs" (Fueled by Ramen)
It's hard to pinpoint the sound of a band like Cadillac Blindside. Are they pop punk? Well, yes, there are some hints of pop with some catchy parts and melody. But there is also a lot of parts that aren't so catchy. Some songs slow down. Some songs ("Empty Bottle Evening") are so loud and rocking they might scare pop punk kids. So what are Cadillac Blindside? Pop punk? Rock? Loud?
I think it can best be described as music.
When I listen to "These Liquid Lungs", I like to have my stereo turned up louder than it's supposed to go, and drive around with the windows down so everyone else can know what's going on.
So is this just some loud, some what catchy, and at times slower CD filled with hit after hit? Yes, but it also stretches so much further with word after word of some of the best lyrics your ears have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Are you tired of singing along to songs that seem to overlap each other and kill the point before it even ends? Then you need some CBS therapy.
From the start of the rockin' "Weilders of the Poison Pen" into "Straightjacket Weather", and hell, throughout the whole CD, these thirteen songs will really make you stop and think (and read the lyric book too).
"True and Cold" could very easily become a great anthem for the summer of 2002 (and maybe of all time). But moreso, every song on this CD rocks hard.
