How do you describe a band like Charlie Brown Gets a Valentine? This is a question I've been asking myself all too much about all too many bands lately it seems.
I wouldn't neccesarily call them "emo" or "indie rock", but they could very easily fit either of those catagories as well as "pop punk". This is some great shit though. I'd call it a cross between Nirvana ("Nevermind" days) and Ten Foot Pole. Short little songs about life and what not that are catchy and at the same time not.
"Killer Becomes King" is one of my favorite songs, as the main vocals in the verses are mirrored by backing vocals that are distorted. "Disco V. Punk" offers us the uncomparable line: "I hit the bottle so hard, it hit me back".
Fourteen two or three minute songs that will get stuck in your heords can not express how much I love this CD and how quickly it has grown on me. It just has that appeal. It has that magic. It has that special extra ingredient that is going to soon make CBGAV a household name in this scene of yours.
If you buy no other CD I review ever, at least buy this one or steal it from your friend. You owe it to yourself.
