It's rare to find good punk bands these days, that border on pop punk,
but Craig's Brother has always been the exception for me. "Lost at Sea" is
a perfect example of why. This collection of songs is fairly easy to sing
along to, but at the same time, it has expresses a lot of deep meaning in the
lyrics and music.
Ten straight forward songs without a lot of bullshit. My favorites
are "Divorce", "Back and Forth" and "Set Free". "Set Free" is a nice
little number that starts off very quietly, and gradually increases in speed
and tempo. But, by the time it actually gets to kick in and be as loud as
the others, it's over. Stand out lines from that song include:
"You only loved the one you wanted me to be"
Craig's Brother is a cross between NOFX and any band that really
sounds like them, and well, their own unique style. Their vocalist really
has his own, very distinguishable voice. Musically, it's a very good CD.
People often get mad when you compare newer releases to older ones,
but fuck it, I'm going to do it any way. You know, songs like "Insult to
Injury", "Nobody" and "My Annie" got me listening to Craig's Brother. Those
songs were on a little CD called "Homecoming". Does "Lost at Sea" measure
up to "Homecoming"? I don't know if you can really compare the two CDs head
to head and say one is better than the other. Let me just say though, that
while songs off of "Homecoming" got me into Craig's Brother, hearing "Lost at
Sea" made me a fan.
