Boy Sets Fire

Boy Sets Fire Live For Today
Wind-Up Records

A lot of people talked a lot of smack on Boy Sets Fire when they signed to Victory Records. And now they’re on Wind-Up Records. Creed’s label. I can imagine the things said. But, rest assured, they are not soon opening for Creed and Nathan Grey does not sound like Scott Stapp. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Actually, this EP (BSF’s Wind-Up debut) blows away a lot of the stuff I think that they did even on After the Eulogy. Instead of getting more radio friendly or something along those lines like most people would think, this seems to have taken a step back from that and gotten that much more angry and harder. If you don’t believe me, just listen to the first track, “Release the Dogs”.

Other than the three new songs on Live For Today, you will also find three live songs-- “After the Eulogy”, “Handful of Redemption” and “Rookie”. “Rookie” was kind of the ‘hit’ from After the Eulogy, so most of you should love that. And, let’s face it, it’s a great crowd sing along. But what’s even better is “After the Eulogy”. Hearing the people sing with Nathan or instead of him, it was definitely a crowd pleaser when they played it. And having seen Boy Sets Fire perform a number of times myself, I think the live tracks really did capture a sort of essence of their show.

If this is what the future has to offer for Boy Sets Fire, I’m excited. Very excited.
