Bloodlet "Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees" (Victory Records)
In a time when metalcore has become some what of a new trend to the point where there seemingly new bands of the genre (and sounding very much the same) popping up all the time, it is only fitting that Bloodlet would come out from the depths of Hell and make their much anticipated return with "Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees". If this CD says nothing else, it definitely says, "Hey all you fuckers, this is how you do it!". Kind of like the drunken father coming home to his bastard son and showing him how to run the house.
Twelve new songs that will surely bend you over and rip you a new asshole, if played at just the right decibal. Bloodlet combines all the great parts of hardcore, metal and even the new metalcore, but they do so in such a way that many bands can not duplicate, or they just are not so bold as to even try.
One of my favorite songs on the CD (because it is so true to me) is the instant classic "I Have Such a Hard Time Making New Friends". Lines like, "Give me back my gun, its intent is not pure" right to "I saw the crack in your halo today, such big words for a tiny little man, he said in my mind I am the hero today", right down to the closing "I must have blacked out, I doubled up on my meds, you see, I have such a hard time making new friends" signify what this CD is all about and how once it grabs a hold on you, it won't let go.
Listen up, motherfuckers, Bloodlet is back and they aren't taking any prisoners. Shoot to kill. Shoot to kill.
