A five song EP from this band, known as the Beautiful Mistake, and let me tell you a little somethin'-somethin' about these guys.
It's hard to catagorize the Beautiful Mistake into one genre because they are just simply not genre specific. Their sound ranges any where from pop punk, to the indie rock-ish sounds of bands like the Casket Lottery, straight down to full out break downs along the lines of bands like Converge. Distorted vocals and all, no joke. Needless to say, this band rates high with me because of that.
In a music scene where so many bands begin to sound alike and there just seems to be nothing new or creative happening as much as I would like it to, I often pride myself on listening to bands that are in between the two extremes of hardcore/metalcore and pop punk/emo. The Beautiful Mistake is a great in between band, but I think that the pop punk kids would definitely tolerate this more easily than the hardcore kids. Which is to say, I could see them playing more with a band like Further Seems Forever, as opposed to say, Converge.
If nothing else, this EP is worth it just to hear "Disclosure". But, again, five songs by a great band. I've always been a fan of EPs because they're a good way to get to know a band. Generally cheaper than full lengths, and yet, these five songs will prove to you whether or not you will like the Beautiful Mistake. So go for it. I think you will.
