Being someone who has for the past several years expressed a great amount of disgust with the current state of contemporary guitar music, my rock-hound friends should be delighted that my interest in it has been rekindled slightly of late. Most credit for this can go to the Pavilion, where in the past few weeks, there have been performances by such bands as the Weakerthans, Slight Return, the Burdocks, and - of course - moot soopers. The sooper's set was almost over by the time I set foot in the Pavilion, and as soon as I saw them on-stage I regretted not being there for its entirety. The band - aside from a amount of intensity that is refreshingly rare in relatively new groups - showed a great amount of potential. Guitar music, rock, popcore, whatever you want to call it, it was good enough to catch the attention of my apathetic mind. I can't wait to hear more from the Moot Soopers as they continue to improve. -jacob chard
