The Comic Book Guy has made numerous appearances throughout the past few years on the Simpsons. There are too many to list, but I will, however, list his most famous and important appearances. Three Men and a Comic Book: Perhaps the Comic Book Guy's most memorable appearance since it was his first. In this episode his store is shown for the first time, and we get our first look at the fat, sarcastic CBG. His voice is a little off, but you can get a feeling of how the voice has evolved over the years. One odd thing about this episode is how he sells Radioactiveman #1 to Bart, Milhouse and Martin for only $100. If Radioactiveman is Springfield's answer to Super-Man, then wouldnt #1 be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, as it was released in the 30s? Aside from all the questions, this was a good episode for the time, but a little lacking when compaired to today's standards. The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show: The Comic Book Guy is featured a lot in this episode, as he has an Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie signing at his store. He complains to Bart that the Poochie episode of Itchy and Scratchy was the worst episode ever and that the writers owe them, the fans. Bart says how Itchy and Scratchy have been giving fans countless hours of free entertainment for years, and that if anything, CBG owes them. This is a funny comentary poking fun at all of the Simpsons fans who complain that the show is going downhill. Worst Episode Ever: This is by far the worst episode ever. The Comic Book Guy gets his first starring role in an episode. In it we see him suffer a heart attack caused by the stress of running the comic book store. He is forced to let Bart and Milhouse run the comic book store, which leads to some funny gags and storylines. Comic Book Guy has to take it easy for a while, and hangs out with Homer, visiting Moe's. He ends up in an argument with Agnes Skinner, and the two fall in love. CBG really isn't all that pick I guess. Him and Agnes date for a while, and he eventually gives up his virginity to her. Meanwhile, at the Android's Dungeon and Baseball Card Shop, Bart and Milhouse stumble upon the CBG's secret stash of thousands of illegal bootleg videos, and begin charging admission to kids to come watch the movies. In the end, the kids get busted, and CBG is arrested for posession of illigal videos. His sentence is reduced if he agrees to put some pants on. Treehouse of Horror X: Comic Book Guy gets his first change in the spotlight in this small skit about Bart and Lisa getting superpowers. CBG is known as the super villain the Collector, his hobby is collecting tv stars. He takes it upon himself to kidnap Lucy Lawless of Xena fame and add her to his collection (which includes Dr. Who, Yasmine Bleath, Matt Groaning and others). Bart (as StretchDude) and Lisa (as Clobber Girl) make their way into his evil fortress to rescue Lucy and the others. In the end he is tricks by Lucky Lawless into opening in mint on card Star Wars Episode 1 double bladed lightsabre, and in a state of shock, is pushed into a vat of plastic. He ends up in a Battlestar Galactica pose, fozen in time. They Saved Lisa's Brain: In this episode we see that the Comic Book Guy is a member of MENSA. He reveals his IQ to be 170, which is rather shocking since he acts like a moron most of the time. He tries to get a law made making fat women illegal. He has a rather large role in this episode, but is still just a background character. Mayored to the Mob: A classic scene of the Comic Book Guy at the Springfield Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con. As he is complaining about someone mixing issues of Amazing Spider-Man in with the Peter Parker: the Spectacular Spider-Man, he is aproached by a woman, who asks for a price on a stack of water-damaged Little LuLu comics. He begins to make a sarcastic remark, but then when he sees the girl's face he asks what she thinks of 45 year old virgins who still live with their parents. She tells him to comb the Sweet Tarts out of his beard and he's on. Comic Book Guy replies, "Don't try to change me, baby" and passes up his one chance at a normal relationship with someone his own age. Comic Book Guy has made many other memorable appearances. Video Game AppearancesClick here for a REALLY crappy screenshot of the game with the CBG in it, and click here for a scan of the instruction booklet where the Comic Book Guy explains how to collect the cards in the game. Simpsons Wrestling Sadly CBG is not a playable character in Simpsons Wrestling... it makes me want to CRY! But he does have a cameo role as a background character in some scenes. Here we can see him chilling by the ring reading a comic. |
