Goodbye to Texas

The dust has settled, the smoke cleared away
As I think about those two short days
Remeber the sights we shared and the words we said
But now all of those are just memories, in my head
What could have been of us
Would it have made you smile
Forever I will wonder
Wonder as I say

Goodbye to Texas, like sunset in the night sky
I see that life has passed us, and we'll never be the same

I turn the lights off in my room, then climb into my bed
I make my radio louder so the music fills my head
She met me in my dreams with a fairy tale smile
I thought that just for once, I might be happy for a while
What could have been of us
Would it have made you smile
Forever I will wonder
Wonder as I say

Goodbye to Texas, like sunlight in the night sky
I see that life has passed us, and we'll never be the same

Yeah it seemed like life was giving up a free ride
Here I am with my head in my hands, fighting not to cry
What happened to our dream when we were us
It turned out that this dream was destined to die

Goodbye to Texas, like sunlight in the night sky
I know that life has passed us, and we'll never be the same...
