Kissing Ryan

By Jessica Walter

Your lips are cherry,
ripe red and sweet.
often have I wondered
when ours will finally meet.
And when they do,
will I be able to go on?
for how can I possibly breathe
when all the breath within me is gone?
I'm knocked to my knees
simply by your gaze
my head thunders and pounds,
my head fills with cliches
and I wander around,
a head full of dust,
a stomach full of jitters,
a heart full of lust.
and it saddens me inside,
to know how all this ends.
I love you as a lover,
you love me as a friend.
