So You Want DreadLocks, Huh?

Okay, either you have come to this page to learn just how you can make yourself some awesome dreaddies OR you have just come to be enlightened and gain some knowledge as to how dreads are made.

Dread Robot!....COMMENCE!!!

                  STEP 1

First thing you have to do is find a very patient friend, as this will take 2-4(!!!) hours depending on the length of hair. Next, you wanna section off each bit of hair that you want to dread. MAKE SURE the section of hair you make is a SQUARE as this will allow the dread to round out later. Another good thing to remember is to define the length of the square section too. A nice medium is about 4/8 to 6/8 of an inch for good sized dreads. For the braver folks out there who want huge dreads, make your sections 1 inch to 1½ inches for those nice phat Marley style locks OR just mix 'em up!   =o) -   When you make each section, use something to hold them away from each other individually (ie: twist ties or something of that nature on the root).

STEP 2

After you've finished making your sections, it's time to backcomb!...Prepare for pain!!!

MAKE SURE the comb you use is a fine-toothed pet comb (easily obtained at your local pet store) as this will prevent the comb from breaking. Grab a section of hair and twist it to the left, turning as you backcomb. Do the same turning right. Then take a good quantity of wax to stick the newly dreaded section of hair together. I recommend some KnottyBoy Dread Wax, the best dread wax on the planet by far.

STEP 3

When you've finished one section of hair, take an elastic and wrap it around the hair a little less the ½ an inch from the root until tight.

STEP 4

Repeat until you are done all of the dreads!!! NOTE : Keep the elastics in your hair UNTIL they snap or fall out...NO SOONER Patience is a virtue for awesome locks!!!

WOW! This Is Better Than Jesus!!!...ON TO PAGE THREE!!!
