The Myths/Pros and Cons of Having Dreadz

First off, I'm going to say that almost anyone who does NOThave dreadlocks is pretty much clueless (I was the same before I got dreadz) as to the process and maintenance of dreadlocks. Those of you with knowledge, I SALUTE!   =o) -   I'll start by saying even though I wash my dreads as infrequently as I can tolerate (to keep my dreads super phat), I STILL shower every day. I do not have fleas, nor do I put mud or anything preposterous like that in my dreads. I love my dreads too much...even though after washing them, I wanna cut them off cuz they look so thin and crappy (but they thicken out again in 2 weeks each time). One funny aspect of dreads is that frequent hair-washers are more susceptible to lice than I am!! Yippee!!!   =o) -   Dreadz, in general, do not give off an aroma of staggering choking smell, unless you go for two months or more without washing them but even then they don't smell unless someone were to stick their nose right in them, but how many people do you see doing that to each other every day?   =o) -

Another funny thing about having dreads is that everybody loses anywhere from 80-150 hairs a day in their natural, daily hair regrowth and rejuvenation process whereas all the hairs I lose fall out into my dreads. So in other words, my hair gets thicker and thicker and thicker...and your hair stays the same. BUT... when you shower your dreads, you lose about 3/4 of the trapped hair that was supposed to naturally fall out, so it sucks to wash yer dreads frequently cuz they get thin and scraggly (have no fear though, for they thicken out again).

What was said above reflects every fellow dreadhead out there in essence and on different levels rather than in actuality and precision.

With that said, I hope I have clarified any stereotypes you may have had about dreadlocks.
