Birth
Zia Zeal was born to her mother and father, who were a mixed marriage. Her mother, Melina, was a Dark Elf, and her father, Janus, was a demon. At age three, her mother died. This is the only known fact of Zia's early childhood, as the evidence of any other events is gone.
Childhood
Zia was a very curious child - more of a tomboy than her late mother would have dreamed. She was raised by her father, and at age nine, her training in magic began. Janus wasn't exactly a nice instructor, despite being her father, but there was never any ill feelings. She loved her father dearly, and he also trained her to use the scythe.
Teen Years
She spent her years from age 15-18 (15 - right after her magic training ended) traveling, and seeing the world. Most of her travels were funded by odd jobs she took up, like amatuer mercenary work, and a short stint as a fortune teller with a circus (Where she learned to fight with daggers, and throwing knives), but occasionally, her father would pay for her travel expenses.
Janus was the one who insisted she persue her dream of wandering. Her traveling partner was a man not much older than her - he was a martial artist, but was poor, so they helped pay for each other on the way. Zia learned her semi-limited martial arts from him, but they went their seperate ways once she decided to go back home. She didn't stay for long. Her father grew sick a little while after her 19th birthday, and died. The cause was a pretty reasonable reason, if you were a demon - he died of a broken heart. Between never truly getting over the death of his wife, and his daughter barely being home, he couldn't help but
feel terribly lonely, depressed. It was something he never found out about. Luckily, Zia was only half demon, so she didn't perish.
This still had a heavy impact on Zia - she never wanted to abandon her friends, or those she cared about. Never.
Now
Zia took only enough of her inherited fortune to pay for her for about a year or two. The rest she donated to a few local charities. At age 21, she stayed a while with a demonic tribe of demons. She had trouble learning their language, and even more of a time teaching them the common language of the rest of the world. Sometimes, she had to remind herself why she stayed with them (The land was infested with Elf-devouring trolls, and she had to find an artifact in a nearby ruin to get some reward money, the only safe place being there), but one of the demons had become a true friend of hers. His name was Rhyno (So sue me, McMahon). Within time, however these odd fantasy relationships truly take place, she even fell in love with him. Although he's still more of a barbarian than he is civilized, Zia wouldn't trade him for anyone. With her past behind her, she continues to persue her dream...
