Me (Shaun)

I thought you might just want to know. Maybe not. Maybe you clicked the wrong link and are deciding right now whether the page you are on right now is worth your time. Well, this page is for those of you who are bored or possibly interested.

  • I am Shaun, the creator of this webpage.
  • I am cheap (the reason my site is hosted at angelfire).
  • I have a car.
  • I have created every plane and paint scheme on this website alone.
  • I have spent more than several hours on X-Plane and it's accompanying programs.
  • I have created this webpage for showing off my talents and obsessions for both Ace Combat, and my girlfriend.
  • Talent....Ha!
  • Obsession....most definitely!

Obsession

What, you may ask is my obsession with that game. It is actually very simple. When I was a small child….well not that small....OK I was short for my age! When I was younger....I had recently received a game console called the Sony PlayStation. It was the greatest thing since the SuperNintendo (bypassing N64 for obvious reasons). The first game I asked for, yes I was that young, was a flying game called AirCombat. Yes the names are different, you can ask Namco why they changed the name, I have no idea. AirCombat was a fun game, it was challenging, and totally unrealistic. BUT, that is what hooked me on flight games and simulators. There is a big difference in those two. Anyway the sequels kept coming, and of course I kept investing. When the third rolled around it was very different, innovative in a sense. The best graphics the PlayStation console could handle, and the Japanese version (yes I had that too) had an actual storyline. This new game was based in the future. Few games can pull off a futuristic world as well as Namco did with AceCombat3. The game was based on the war between two rival companies Neucom and General Resource. There are very pretty futuristic aircraft designed by Neucom. These aircraft are very sleek and fast, and I wondered, "Is it possible that they could really fly?" So I designed them for X-Plane. That's it. I still love the franchise, but there haven't been as many cool new planes in the other sequels. Just for kicks I must brag about the latest game that has already been released, AceCombat4.

Ace Combat 4

It is an excellent game, insane jump with graphics quality, superb aircraft characteristics, beautiful sound, an interesting storyline, and the same old Arcade style flight game. If I say any more it will be too much. (One quick note, if you want to be really proud of yourself, play it on Ace mode using only the F-4 Phantom, the fun ensues.) As a wise man once posted, "When you're out of Phantoms, you're out of Phighters!"

Hey fans! AceCombat5 will soon be within our grasp!

So.....I'm sitting here waiting for my PDF viewer to download because I still don't have one and I need to view a PDF. Sounds reasonable, right? I decided to finally switch stereos from my old car to my older, new, car. I was in an accident while driving my 1995 Nissan Altima, I had a very nice Alpine stereo in it. The car was hurt pretty bad. My new car, a 1990 Honda Accord, which I love to death, is a manual and very fun to drive. I have already installed the speakers from the Altima into my Honda and stopped after I realized how much more work had to be done. So I've been cruising around with Alpine speakers and a stock Accord radio. Ha. So I've finally decided to put in the CD player. I am a pretty good handyman, if I do say so myself, but this is a very delicate procedure so I need help. Help of course only comes in PDF form. You'd think that Install DR. would have a link to Adobe. The only files they offer for download are PDFs. Only 68 percent now so I guess I'll ramble a little more. You guys probably want to know about my little job with my new intake. I hope so because I'm going to tell you. I decided to buy an intake for my "new" car. I ordered it online and it arrived in a week. Not bad. In order for it to be most efficient I took out the entire stock air intake system. That was the easy part. I soon realized, after I removed all the stock parts, that several pieces of equipment under my hood were, how shall I say it.....in the way! So I had fun moving the battery and radiator overflow around to fit the monster intake tube (it is at least four feet long). I made a make-shift clamp for the overflow and everything was good. When I drove for the first time I noticed a definite sound difference. It was much louder and fuller, the engine rev was deeper. I also noticed a slight boost in performance, a little more horsepower and a bit more torque, nothing to get hyped up about. It's cool though. Hurray! My download is complete. Stupid Dial-Up. Anyway, have a good day.

My Car

I bought a white 1990 Honda Accord from a small used car lot. I loved the car at first sight. It was a manual, which was something I had wanted in my car since I first began to drive. I had driven a Honda Civic of the generation before my new car and was discouraged by its lack of power. When I test drove it I was pleasantly supprised. It was rather quick. I bought it about a week later after surveying other lots too. Anyway, I enjoyed the car a lot. As you probably read above I installed an air intake. It was cool and fun to install. I never thought I would get into import tuning. I had always made fun of others. Now I understand. It is very different from a new perspective. Many people wonder what the point is of tuning a tiny four piston 2.2 liter when you can buy a car that comes with two or three times the displacement. There are several points. To make a car with such small displacement fly it requires a lot of work and devotion, I am not saying that bigger engines don't, but it is challenging to make something awesome out of a car meant to be a small economy car. There is something to be said for both sides. Believe me if I could have a 1966 Mustang fastback I would tune the hell out of it, but alas I must wait until I find both the car and the funds. Ha. I decided that since I see myself as being partial to real car tuning I will stay as far away from turbos as possible. Don't get me wrong turbos are pretty sweet, but I want the satisfaction of saying that the engine of my car produces the horsepower, not the turbo force feeding it. I bought an exhaust header a few weeks ago. It is very nice and was a very good price. Soon I will replace the vastly restrictive exhaust manifold and add larger piping from the cat-back. I will hopefully be able to find a less restrictive catyllitic converter and install that too. There are a few things I will not put on my car.....

  • Ground effects
  • Vinyl decals
  • Nitro
  • Bright paint
  • Huge spoiler
That's about it. Those are the only things that make some import tuners the guys people make fun of. I know of course that nitro puts the horsepower where it needs to be(as far as RPMs go) except that it is often where it doesn't need to be(not street legal). Besides I've heard many-a-story about guys that blow up their engines with nitro. So if you don't mind I wouldn't like to do that. Besides who wants to be fined for having something like that in your car while it's on the road? I plan on reworking the engine. Port and polish where I can. Exhaust is working it's way in now. New cams would be nice. Real rims not import rice wheels, something light and functional. Brakes, suspension, headlights, taillights, maybe a small spoiler(it just doesn't look right without), repaint (white again, looks nice), and if I have to, reprogram the ECU, but that'll be after most of the work is done. I really would like to race but.....not in a straight line if you know what I mean. I wonder if there are such things as real racing anymore? Who cares about how hast a car handles the quarter-mile? Shouldn't a driver be judged by the skill with which he drives his car and not by how fast it can go on the straightaways. Oh well. GT racing is for the pros I guess. One day....
