September Monthly News

September 6th 2007: I'm sorry I have not been around a lot this week, and I again apoligize for the internet problems. I did manage to get a new router and one new cord, but I am still wanting to replace the modem. I will NOT however, be able to buy a new powerpack for the main server computer, and it will remain down for another month it seems. Just can't afford it again. Money is very tight. I plan to start with the story again this week now that things have settled down. I will keep everyone posted should there be any changes.

September 11th 2007: Enviromental items players needed to go to Ice, Fire, Deciet, Blood and the other enviromental dungeons are now spawning on certain monsters (rare).

September 12th 2007: New Internet Cables have been installed to help prevent lag/connection loss. Thanks to Lady Deathbringer for her help. Ancient Magery Quest (at moonglow) and spell scrolls are not in the game. Ranger Ability Scrolls now spawning as loot. All spell scrolls should now be spawning as loot (except spellweaving).

August Monthly News

August 10th 2007: After a long down time the Avatar's Kingdom has returned. The shard seems to be completly intact this time from the last point of save. The bad news is however that we are running on an old computer, and not the main server computer untill the end of the month when the main server computer will be repaired. This dell will become the work computer for me to work on scripts with and the server computer will become a dedicated server that only will be used to run UO. To celebrate our 100 votes that we had just befoe the downtime, I have plans for a speical event. See RP news for details.

August 20th 2007: Not much to report. I haven't been able to do alot of work to the shard this month because of the limits of this temparary computer. If you or someone you know has not received teir Mondain's Defeat Items, Contact Sirenix in game and we will make sure you get them.

August 31th 2007: Added a news carrier in all towns to sell the shard newspaper.

June Montly News

June 06 2007: The shard may be down for a while today. I have to preform some major maintance to the computer today.We been having alot of problems last few days, partly I'm sure because of the bad memory. After the shad's computer has been repaired it will be brought back on line.

June 11 2007: The shard will be relocated to a new host for the time being. The problems eairler this month have not improved and will probably contuniue to be an issue for a while.
 

June 18th 2007: The Shard is now back on the original computer. This will remain in effect probably untill the new computer I am buying parts for us up and running. Please note that this computer is NOT entirely fixed, and will most likely still present many problems. I'd like to thank Lady Deathbringer, and my Boc for their efforts in hosting the shard. Both Boc and Lady Deathbringer will be off line for an unknown amount of time, so neither can host the shard at the moment. Hopefully the computer is once again stable enough to run the shard. Also note that the change log on the shard news page has also been updated. Undead Races have been added to the race stone at the character creation temple. Note that these races may still have a few bugs to work out. Treasures of tokuno should now work once again. Added last spell books that I forgot to add to the scribe. ***IMORTANT NOTE*** On Monday the 25th, the shard will be Upgradeing to 6.0+ client. What this means is now Trammel and Felucca are seprated worlds. As a result two things need to happen 1st and Most importantly Players who have not done so, need to Zip their entire UO folder calling it UO 5.0.9 or something of the sort, and then Patch to EA and download all the latest patches. Those who do Not do this, will expirence many problems with the shards custom towns and dungeons, and in the city of Haven, and haven island as a whole. The reason you are saving the old UO folder as a zip is just incase for what ever reason, we need to go back to the original Maps back to pre 6.0. 2nd Expect the shard to be down all day monday as I convert our shard patches and update them to 6.0. Please note that Haven Untill it us updated to 6.0 Will very likely still cause problems for those who patch. It is suggested that you avoid Haven for the time being, after you have patched and untill the shard is updated this monday.

May Monthly News
May 2nd 2007: I have completed making the region welcome windows smaller. However the custom regions still do not have a welcome window. The [cbar, is now closeable and movable. The [rpnews had been updated.

May 9th 2007: Well problems once though fixed have yet again returned. my two 512 memory sticks have just quit working. Either one, or both (rambus needs pairs of sticks). If its just one of them or both of them thats bad I won't know. Right now the only thing keeping the shard running are 4 64MB sticks that are more then 4 years old (possibly 5). The shard may run now but i don't know how much stress it can take (how many people can be loged in at the same time and not lag). it might be a while before I can get the problem fixed.

May 12th 2007: Just some news. We are not sure what caused the crashes eairler today. If the problem presists we will try something diffrent. I have made major progress with making a ML compatable shard. I have even the ability to add new skills. I have not forgotten about the main either. While still getting ready to convert to ML, I have downloaded a few things that are espically needed, and help with both the hunger/thirst system, And the vampire bloodlust. (and a bunch of other unique features).

May 15th 2007: Although we haven't been able to figure out why the shard is crashing. It now shouldn't crash over and over and over agian so many times that i can't find the original crash report.This will help determine what exactly is causig the crash and help me to fix it.

May 25th 2007: Well the crashing slowed down for a while but it keeps going. The good news however is that I have got a fully upgraded ML shard working, and the old memory sticks we had before are partly working again, but not very well. I'm going to post information about a donation idea for the shard on the main web page with rewards. This will remain in effect atleast untill we get the server computer repaired.

May 26th 2007: Not much to report here. Just some updates. ML Weapon abilities have been added, And a few ML bugs have been repaired. The RP news has been updated, and I also plan to update the web page. Remember to Eat and Drink! Also note that the saves are going to be very long (up to 50 seconds) while running on this computer with bad memory, but atleast its not crashing every 30 min.

May 29th 2007: Fixed some crashes with the personal garden deeds (sold by farmers) and added a few new crops to the farmers list, as well as milk buckets and cheese forms.

Relocation
The Shard for the time being has been relocated back to the main server computer (with the bad memory) because the host computer is causing some crashes. As of now as well we are in the ML age. Much of the Mondain's legacy stuff need yet to be tested. As i feel the systems are tested i will make them public and release them for all players to use. Also as a way of helping fix the server computer, we have started a donation program. for more information on donation rewards see the Donation Rewards page for details. The donaton botton and link to rewards is on the bottom of the main page below the current news.

Memory Meltdown
It would appear that the problems I thought where completly fixed with the computer where not entirely repaired. The memory we had has quit working. The only thing i had to stick in there to get the computer back up and running again (at all) where 4 sticks of very old memory, 64MB memory.
As a result, Boc Will be hosting the shard For a while to tempararly fix the issue.

Shard Progress
Well The shard has been up and running again for about three weeks. Updates are slow but bare with me. This time around, as I add the systems into effect, I would like for them to be virtually complete. For those who are wondering how the time was spent so far, check out the change log in the shard news section. The goal still remains the same at this moment: getting the Spell Class System in and working properly. After it is added, and just before going to the Ore Wood and Leathers System, I will go back, and add another race to the race stone, as well as fully updated vampires, and lycans.

Montly News April
April 1st 2007:
Hello and greetings to all. For those of you who are new to the Avatar's Kingdom, check the links page for more links regarding our shard. Now for todays news: Players can now use the command bar to access quick links to the commands they can use to do this just say [cbar. The sickness system has now been installed. If you get sick, find an apothacary in any healer shop who sells the proper cures. Players should now be aware that, the dungeon effects system is now also installed. dungeons such as, Deciet, Ice, Fire, Blood, Montor (choas in ilsh), And Exodus have extreen enviroments. Those who try to enter and do not have the proper protection will receive high amounts of damage.

April 7th 2007
Hello again Britannians. Today I introcuded the first part of the new player race system. This is a highly custom system designed to let the players become the race and occupation they enjoy the most. As we get time, new races will be added to the system to further enhance the players experinces. If there is a race you would like to see please feel free to let us know on our forums. Also note that once the custom spells and abilities system is added (next on the list of goals) Vampires and Lycans will be added as well.

April 8th 2007
Happy Easter!!! I have a few events planed for today. One is a scavenger style Easter Egg Hunt, and the other is a Time Based Run And Grab Style Hunt. I will be pulling players seprately (because all can not be on at the same time) to do the time based hunt. The First Basket for the Scavenger hunt is In Haven Plaza.

April 14th 2007: Added the chat system. The command is [pm. You can type [cbar to view this, and other commands. April 11th 2007: Sorry about the power outages today. We have been having a few freak storms blow in every so often.

April 15th 2007: Sorry for the long downtime today. Late last night right before bed I started having bad computer problems. I spent about an hour working on the problem. When I got the shard back up, and saw someone try to log in, I thought the problem had been fixed and I finally went to bed. However when that person connected he was disconnected right away it seems, and no other connections got through. Again sorry for the mistake.

April 23rd 2007: Some of the new scrolls for the new spell systems have now been added to the random loot. Spell books for the new scrolls can be purchased from scribes. Parrots and Crows can now be purchased from the pirate smuggler in Buccaneer's Den, as well as their perches, and the wafers needed to feed them. Thanks to Peoharen's Monster Pack, alot of the EA monsters have been upgraded, and more are yet to come. Also included is a Necromancer AI (artificial int). Lich will now cast necromancer spells.

April 25th 2007: Updated a few monsters, and added some abilities for Lycans and Vampires. (*please note these races are still very incomplete still*)

April 28th 2007: Added a new system to give the players (and staff) a window telling them what town, or dungeon you have just entered, and how many other players are in that region. Later improvements will include a option to turn it off, and making the Second window that tells how many players are on line appear in the same spot as the first window and the same style (smaller). I'm also working to get our custom areas to work as well.

Because we have lost the shard, I have decided to give all characters one advanced character as a free reward. I know it's not much, but it would be impossible to replace everything that was lost with the hard drive crash. Here are the advanced character choices:
