Me as Younger Kain
This is a new addition I just recently completed. Taking the same picture that I painted over to turn my visage into that of Elder Kain from the Soul Reaver series and now Legacy of Kain: Defiance, I now have painted over that image to turn myself into the Kain seen in Blood Omen 1 & 2. Using a picture of Kain from both games, I was able to add in the armor seen in Blood Omen 2 and get a happy medium between the two. Both were of Kain as his younger self, yes, but since they were made by different companies, the form of Kain in BO2 was a bit more exagerated then his previous incarnation. It is a cool interpretation, but I wanted more realism, esspecially to have it coincide with me in Kain's elder form. I have another reason for this creation, also. There is an RP which I've started which is set right after Blood Omen 2's ending. It helps to give an image for others when one is writing for the character. Well, it may or may not, but it seemed a good idea to me, one that others have tried and which I like. This painting was done using blending of paint which was set to be partially transparent at first, and built up more and more to blend more properly. Before that, I toned down the color and saturation to give myself a better base to work from. The armor is painted the same way and has only a minor rendering addition to as best simulate the look of the 3-D model's material, which seemed to be of a hard hide, or leather, rather then metal. It's a subtle addition, one that's probably not too noticeable given that it is so dark. There is a metal ring on his left shoulder holding the cross straps together also given a slight texture to better have the look of metal. I actually didn't render anything else, so even his hair (which I was quite pleased how it came out) is totally nothing but regular paint. It didn't seem to need anything else.
