The Ranking System Case's Ladder has one of the simplest ranking
systems ever used for competitive play. We call it a "Ladder"
because each team has a unique rank or "rung" that represents
their standing among other teams. The highest ranked team holds the #1
position. Someone ranked #2 is ranked below the #1 team. So, the goal is
to "climb" the Ladder all the way to the top.
Account Rules Since your Ladder account is where all your
records are kept we have some special policies regarding it. These are
very important and you should pay close attention to them.

Multiple Users
Team Guidelines The following rules are currently active for
teams:
Challenges Whether you are the one looking for a match or
the one being asked to play there are some guidelines that need to be
followed. Violating these could result in penalties. If you notice
anyone violating these rules please feel free to contact us using the
SUPPORT area.
o
Once Per Day:
Once Per Day: You can only play the same team three times per day. You
can play as many different teams as you'd like on any given day. o
Verify
Information: We recommend that you make sure potential opponents belong
to the Ladder before starting your match. This way if you have a problem
you will have all of the information you need to resolve it quickly. You
can do this very easily using our find team utility. It's not a bad idea
to write this information down after you look it up. o
Priority:
If you have multiple people challenging you at once you should play
the person with the highest rank. o
First
Come, First Served: The priority rule for accepting challenges only
applies when you have multiple challenges at the same time. If you are
challenged by a team you should not go to chat and actively seek another
team higher in rank to challenge, rather your team needs to accept the
first challenger. o
Specific
Ranks: It is illegal to refuse matches based on Ladder rank. You may
request a specific rank or range when advertising for a challenge, but
you may not refuse a valid challenge simply because the challenger is
not the rank you are wanting to play. Playing a Match Once you have found an opponent and you are ready
to start your match, there are some rules about the match to keep in
mind.
Tournaments The rules are determined for each individual
tournament by the Tournament Director holding the event. If you click on
the link for a specific tournament you will see a summary of that
tourney, including a RULES link where you can find out the specific
rules for that event. Tournaments are exempt from Game Specific Rules
unless the TD has specified otherwise on his/her rules page. Game-Specific Rules To keep things as competitive as possible we
often have special rules that only apply to certain games. The rules for
the current ladder are listed here. If you have any suggestions for rule
changes that would improve the Ladder please feel free to submit
them. CHEATING IS NOT
ALLOWED. ANY PLAYER CAUGHT CHEATING WILL BE BANNED FROM THE LEAGUE
IMMEDIATELY... NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. ACCUSATIONS OF
CHEATING WILL ALSO NOT BE TOLERATED. YOU MUST HAVE PROOF BEFORE MAKING
ANY ACCUSATIONS. PLAYERS WILL BE PENALIZED FOR THIS. Sportsmanship
And Penalties Captains are
responsible for the conduct of their members. You should pick your team
members wisely and not cut slack or your whole team could face
penalties. This is a "G" rated league, which means suitable
for the general public. Please conduct yourself in this manner. What you
may think is not offensive may be to others. If you are not sure...just
don't say it! If we receive complaints about the behavior of a user or
team, steps will be taken to deal with the problem. Below you will see a
standard of penalties set forth but not limited to some of the offences
that can and will be issued for breaking of rules. Remember your team
may be penalized for the actions of a team member depending on the
severity and frequency of the offense. WARNINGS, BOXES and BANS Warning
Levels Verbal Verbal warning
sent to player, players captain and opponents captain along with copy of
any chat’s and zm’s showing the reason for warning. Captain to
discipline player Level 1 Level 1 warning
to be issued and sent to player, players captain and opponents captain
along with copy of any chat’s and zm’s showing the reason for
warning. Level 2 Level 2 warning
to be issued and sent to player, players captain and opponents captain
along with copy of any chat’s and zm’s showing the reason for
warning. Level 3 Level 3 warning
and 3 day box to be issued and sent to player, players captain and
opponents captain along with copy of any chat’s and zm’s showing the
reason for warning. Level 4 Level 4 warning
and 7 day box to be issued and sent to player, players captain and
opponents captain along with copy of any chat’s and zm’s showing the
reason for warning. Level 5 Level 5 warning
and minimum 30 day box through maximum permanent ban to be issued and
sent to player, players captain and opponents captain along with copy of
any chat’s and zm’s showing the reason for warning. Warnings will
be issued in different stages depending upon the severity and/or
repetition of the case. An example would be disrespect to another
player. First the admin shall ask them to stop and the player stops, a
verbal warning will be issued. If the player refuses to stop and
continues to be rude and disrespectful, the warning could be escalated
to a Level 1 warning Warnings are
issued on an escalating scale. If a player receives a warning and then
repeats the offense before the warning expires, then the next warning
will be at the next level. Warnings are to
remain active for 6 months based on the most recent level issued.
Warnings will be removed in reverse order of issuance on a 6 month time
scale. For example, if a player has a level 2 warning, after 6 months
has elapsed from the issuance of the level 2 warning, the warning level
will drop to level 1 and will remain in place for 6 months. After the 6
months for the level 1 warning has elapsed, the warning level would
reduce to verbal for six months at the end of which, the players record
would be cleared of warnings. If warnings are
issued for separate types of events then the warnings will not be
cumulative but shall be considered separate issues for warning purposes. Warnings will
be issued for the following as listed in the GSR (this is not a complete
list and not limited to these specific offenses):
Bans can be
issued for the following (but not limited to) reasons:
All Warnings
shall be issued within 48 hours of the offense. Warnings at the
first two levels (verbal and level 1) shall require at least 3 admin’s
to agree on the warning. Warnings above
level 1 and all bans shall require a majority vote of all active admins. A database
shall be maintained by admin to record and track all warnings, boxes and
bans. All warnings
issued by this admin prior to guidelines being issued will be reviewed
and if warranted, level 1 warnings downgraded to verbal If a player
changes teams, warnings will be updated and follow the player to the new
team
HSP web sites
are an extension of the league and all Case and HSP rules apply at these
sites APPEALS of WARNINGS,BOXES and BANS Appeals can be
made for all warnings at Level 2 or above, all boxes and all bans. Appeals are to
be made by the captain of the team A board of 5
captains will be chosen by the Head Admin and the captain requesting the
appeal.
A time will be
set by the appeals board in which the captain appealing the decsion, the
player(s) involved, the Head Admin, the reporting admin, and the appeals
board will meet. All appeals
will be held in open forum at the HSP Captains/Co-Captain site All spectators
at the appeal shall remain silent at all times
After the
appeal is heard, the appeals board will go into closed session with the
Head Admin and the appealing captain.
The appeals
board decision will be posted on the captains site and Head Admin will
send out emails to the captain of the player and the player involved
stating the decision of the appeals board. All records
kept by admin will be changed to reflect the decision of the appeals
board. NOTE: We do not
expect captains to let any one person or team reach level 3 of this
standard set here. It is the captain’s responsibility to address the
problem when 1st warning is issued. Administration
reserves the right to skip levels of penalty due to the severity of the
offense. FIVE Matches Per Day There is a
maximum of 5 matches per day same 4 players. This rule supercedes the
Cases "One Per Day" rule in the general rule section. CHALLENGES Whether you are
the one looking for a match or the one being asked to play there are
some guidelines that need to be followed. Violating these could result
in penalties. The best way to find matches is to announce in lobby chat
that you are looking for a HSP Ladder match. You will see others doing
the same. This lets everyone know you are interested. When you are in the
lobby trying to find a match you should be courteous and respectful to
other people in the room. TOP OF THE
HEAP: Everyone wants a shot at #1; consequently there should be a lot of
activity and movement in the top ranks of the Ladder. Remember that rank
has priority when it comes to challenges. Keeping that in mind, the
number one team should play the number two team as often as possible. INACTIVITY:
Teams in the Top Ten must play at least once EVERY DAY. If they don't,
they are automatically dropped five rungs and their inactivity counter
is reset. (Remember do not change your activity schedule because of your
rank) There are no exceptions to this rule. RANK HOUNDING:
Teams in the Top Ten are expected to be as active after they reach the
top ranks as they were before. In other words, if you are playing 20
games a day to make it to the Top Ten and then only play once a week to
hold your rank you may be penalized. LEAPFROGGING:
Teams in the Top Three should play the team ranked directly below them
as much as possible (MIN ONCE EVERY DAY). If you are found to be
avoiding challenges that put your rank at risk your account will be
penalized. ALL CHALLENGES
are in the lobby, if you do not meet a challenge that day or have no
activity during any day occupying TOP TEN RANK your rank will
automatically drop 5 rungs. If teams are unavailable to meet a
challenge, send challenge request to admin we will try to arrange a game
asap. If one can not be arranged for you in 24 hours, the challenge will
be void and the unavaiable team will be dropped 5 rungs. TABLES DURING
PLAY ARE NEVER TO BE CLOSED TO KIBITZERS NOR IS SILENCE ALLOWED TO BE
ON. WE WILL GIVE ONE WARNING THEN TEAM WILL BE DQ'D. KIBITZING You must
cover your cards at all times during game play. You may kibitz your own
team, however if asked to move out of consideration for the other
players you must do so.
If you sit and you notice cards uncovered please feel obligated to
announce at the table immediately that cards are not covered. If a player gets booted, any kibitzer of that hand should
remove themself and go to the other side of the table due to the fact
that the hand is now exposed.
When you kibby a game...remember you are not a part of the game and
commenting on the game is not allowed. MISBIDS/MISPLAY NEW RULE per
vote on 5/18/03.... If a misbid/misplay occurs at ANY POINT in time
during the game.. it is an Automatic Loss for the team that misbid/misplay.
"NOTE" ("This does not apply if the person is booted and
the bot makes the bid") In the event of a Double Misbid, the first
person to misbid will have to FF game and report match. (This does not
apply if the person is booted and the bot misbids/misplay. In this
situation the score, including bags, and the hand is recorded by each
team... Reseat and Score Manually.) REMEMBER THE NICE GUY RULE: If all 4
players agree to a reseat instead of a FF this will be allowed. Tie Games A tie game is
the result of the set number of hands in the game being played, and both
teams have exactly the same score. The tie breaker shall consist of the
playing of 3 additional hands. NO reseating as the bags could be a
factor in determining the win. Booted If a player is
booted plz note time at table. A booted player will have 8 mins to
return to table, or a sub must be found with in that time frame. Failure
to do this will result in a forfeit. In any alternative format game in
which a bot cannot play properly, such as (but not limited to) crawl or
strip, the score must be taken including bags, and the players must
reseat, beginning with the hand in which the player was booted.
Therefore, if a player is booted in the middle of the fourth hand and
returns, play resumes at the beginning of the fourth hand. If your
partner gets booted from the table, you are resposible for holding last
card until your partner or a sub is seated for the next hand. Failure to
do so will result in you forfieting the game if your opponents request
it. (Remember the NICE GUYS RULE! This is a game of fun..."If the
opponents choose a reseat and manual scoring..this will be
allowed.") Players experiencing excessive delays and booting are
required to get a substitute from their own team in order to avoid
unreasonable delays. Once a sub has been obtained for whatever the
reason, the original player MAY NOT return to the same game for any
reason. "Substitute Players may be used at ANY time during a game
for whatever reason....but remember you MAY NOT return to that game for
any reason, NO EXCEPTIONS" Table Talk Table
Talk (TT) is not allowed and will not be tolerated by players or
kibitzers during the game play. This includes but is not limited to, any
comments or suggestions that reveal your hand or draws attention to the
number of bags either team has acquired. Examples include but are not
limited to: Watch Bags, Getting ready to take a trip "p"
Taking (all the) (to many) (bags) "p" Why did u cut me
"p", Bad hand here "p", PPPPP????, Can u get mine
"p" HELP, Tram (the rest are mine), Take em all p. "CMP"(cover
me partner) "See my nil p?" The use of NSP, NSU2, GJP, GJU2,
NTP, and NTU2, etc. are terms used as GOOD GAMESMANSHIP and DO NOT
affect the outcome of the game when used appropriately; they may be used
AFTER the SET has been made. The use of the term NBU2, NBP can be made
AFTER THE HAND is played and SHOULD NOT be used before the last card. REPORTING MATCHES All 4 players
must remain at the table unless excused by all until the game is
reported. If a problem occurs with the report you can ask your p to
report the game. If the report is still not able to be posted please
advise the opponents, call admin and team cappys to the table....if none
available email game specifics to:hsp_reports@yahoo.com (this is for
Login Problems ONLY.) When Case Reporting site is down, all games are to
be reported once the site is back up. Teams are responsible for
reporting when case comes back up. Reporting is on honor. Non reports
are responsibility of captains to resolve. There will be No admin
intervention for the reporting of these games. REMATCHES Although there
are no rules pertaining to rematches...Please remember the Nice Guy
rule....It Is Common Courtesy to give a rematch to a team who has just
lost a game to your team. Rematches are left totally up to the
individual players LANGUAGES English is the
primary language here and MUST be the language used for lobby
chat, league, and tourney games. Please do not communicate using anything
but English as this could cause people to believe your are talking about
the cards in play. Playing games The game to be
played must be called before any players bid. eg crazy 8, sui, mirrors,
crawl, etc. DN or NDN Must be called in the addy of the game of such
games a nil or double nil may be played. Be specific when you addy a
game. (example: HSP @@@@ 5 ~~~~ 8h/CoptCat **** NDN)
League/Table/Game/Hands/Specifics.) Cards Must Be Covered during play,
you may kibitz your own team except during a tc. Lagging Excessive
lagging(failing to play within in 30 seconds twice in the same hand)
will result in holding the last card at the end of hand being played so
that the player may reboot. 3 times for having to leave the table in one
game due to lagging shall result in a DQ. FAMILY Members of the
same team who live together must never be partners in a league game or
tc. This will fall under cheating penalties and will have same rulings
apply. This rule is to
specifically allow two players in the same household to OPPOSE each
other on separate teams. You may NEVER play on the same team as
partners. CONTACTING ADMIN If there is an
admin makes a ruling that u feel is unfair please feel free to please
feel free to email admin at hsp_mirrors@yahoo.com to schedule a meeting
so that you can explain why you feel it is an unfair ruling and If we
find a revision is needed we will make the necessary changes and the
rule will go into effect at that time. The Conceding Rule Any team that
reports a match before the game is actually over will be considered to
have conceded that game and no team will be able to recover such game...
(Admin will not adjust the game or the loss). The Prefix or Team Identifier Rule Any team that
starts in HSP must have a Team Identifier in their ZONE NICS ie:HSP_Nic.
No team can start a team ID nic that is identical to any other HSP Team
currently playing. Grandfather
clause: any team that has been started before this date and does not
have a Team ID will be allowed to stay as is. From this date forth
1.13.03 ~~~****TOURNAMENT RULES****~~~ DO NOT TALK ABOUT TOURNEY IN LOBBY IN
ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM IF SYSOP SEE A CONVERSATION IN THE LOBBY IT IS IN
THIER POWER TO SHUT THE TC DOWN!!!!!! All players must be DND and Cards must
be covered. There is to be no table talk (about the
cards in play that could change the out come of the game) by players or
kbitzers. Booted players have 8 minutes or 3 boots
then the remain partner must find a sub. Once the sub has been found the
original player may not return to finish the tc. Please Do Not Kibitz Your Own Team doing
so will DQ your team mates The team listed first picks the seats
and the table DO NOT hold table or turn off kizbiting
it will be a DQ for the guilty party If a misbid/misplay occurs at ANY POINT
in time during the game.. it is an Automatic Loss Winners report matches to host table,

Reporting the Match Once your game is completed the loser of the
match is responsible for reporting it as soon as possible. You can
report your matches using the "Report Loss" link located in
the left hand frame. Here are some things to remember regarding
reporting your losses.
Expected Behavior As a member of Case's Ladder you are representing
us and all the other teams when you are playing Ladder matches. Because
we rely heavily on the support of the gaming networks and producers of
the games that you play we have some guidelines for how you need to
behave online. It's part of your duty to be respectable so that you
don't give the Ladder (and other teams!) a bad name.
Top Ten Because everyone dreams of being in the Top Ten
we have some special rules that apply for these users. This keeps the
competition for these slots in high gear. Only teams who are ranked in
the Top Ten need to worry about these.
Fill in the Blank
We can't cover every aspect of gaming in our
rules. We have tried to be as thorough as possible and cover all the
basics. However, just because something is not listed doesn't meant that
it is allowed. Use common sense. If it is something that will adversely
effect other teams and you might think twice about doing it's probably
against the rules. Our staff have the final say in such matters. If you
have a specific question please feel free to contact us via E-mail. |
