Zidane In Confident Mood
Zinedine Zidane has warned England that they mustn't single him out for special attention in their Euro 2004 match, because the whole French team is so good.
The Real Madrid maestro is one of France's main assets, along with Thierry Henry, but he says that the team as a whole is worth fearing.
Jacques Santini's side are determined to erase the memory of their woeful 2002 World Cup experience, but Zidane is confident they can put up a strong defence of their European crown.
"They should not be scared of just me, but the whole France team because we are so good," said Zidane.
"We have a team good enough to go a long way.
"England will be a very hard match so we must do everything to approach it in the right way.
"We are confident we can go to Portugal and defend our title because we have the team who can go and beat anybody.
"But for a competition like this, whether it's the World Cup or European Championship, that first match is so important - you must not lose it.
"I feel in better shape than I did before the 1998 World Cup finals and we had a great result then so there is a big belief in the squad."
