You do understand the we are not going to give away everything. We like the look of amazement when people hear that the games are hand made, from start to finish.
Until we can get pictures that do the games justice, we will do our best to make sure you know that you are getting the best game that we can make. Also, due to the length of time it takes to make one game, make sure you check the time table when ordering. If a game is backlogged, it will tell you how many days it will take to complete your order (we strongly suggest sending us contact info so we can let you know when yours is ready, for huge orders).
For all cards, we print them ourselves. If it is a plain card (like the old style community chess/chance cards in a Monopoly game) then print and cut is all that is needed. Special cards require either a two page per item printing process (using very strong and flexible glue) or it requires the use of speciality paper (the same paper used to make official playing cards - but in different thicknesses).
If a specialty paper is used (two page process or special order), then they are all sealed with a high gloss urethane to make them waterproof.
The game boxes (all except Salvage Lords) are made in the same fashion as special playing cards. Salvage Lords though is made from recycled material. The game box itself is 100% recycled!
The playing pieces vary. Either small, colorful gems as markers/pieces, small army men (great for younger gamers) or hand made pawns.
The boards (in the games that require them) are far stronger than any of the boards that you are used to, and about the same thickness (just a tenth of an inch thicker maybe). Very durable and follow the two page process (for glue and seal). In fact, I gave a playing board to our son when he was about 1 year old to see how much abuse it could take. It still has the same look (just a little wear and tear show) after unholy damage attempts. If you have a child, then you know that they can destroy just about anything in one hour. This board lasted well beyond a year.
That covers most of the games (in general - we do want to keep something secret). The rest of the games are item based so we just purchase the items wherever we can. By the way, if you are reading this and you happen to know of/work for a company that can fashion 12g-16g stainless steel wire (not for welding!) then email us immediately!
The other part, which is more entailed, is the game creation process. This is what makes the games so interesting. For example, CTF-TTV has some simple parts (but so do many other games out there) but it is the rules and objectives that make the game fun. If you really think about it, how many card games are out there? The printing/manufacturing process is the same for all of the them but there is a huge difference between Magic, Pokemon and Fluxx. What you buy is the game design, not the cards necessarily. The cards do make the game (for that design) work/not work though. Some games require almost no real artwork (like Fluxx, what a great game!) but other games, you expect higher artwork (Magic for example). So keep that in mind the next time you buy a game. Are you really buying the game (board, box, pieces, materials) or are you buying a game that has been tested to play well and be fun?
But we will be getting some pictures up as soon as we can get a camera that will do the game justice. It's hard for us to accept a picture when we know what the game looks like.
If you wish to buy a game (once the Paypal code is up and running) and feel hesitant, then I suggest that you email us a request for a certified return if you are truly disappointed. We will exchange your game for a game of equal value until you find one that you are happy with. PLEASE NOTE: you do not find this type of offer from other companies! I can't think of all of the games (board, card, PC, console) that I no longer play because the game itself (in design) was horrible. Once bought, it was miine. So HURT YOUR BRAIN PUBLICATIONS will give you 7 business days (from time of mailing - should give you 4-5 business days with the game) to contact us with why you are disappointed (just saying "don't like it" will not do). Send the game back to us with a request for another game equally priced and we will exchange it for you (same deal). We are continually making games so there will always be another one being released for sale soon. If you can not find a game that you like, then we can exchange it for a game of higher price, using the cost of your game as a credit. You will only have to pay the difference.
This may seem like a huge promise from such a new gaming company, but we believe in our games. WARNING: these games are NOT intended for small children. They may be tough, but they are designed for people who like to play games! If you send us a game back because little Timmy doesn't like the taste of the game, then you have violated the basic rule of the game! We will not accept any game that was purchased for young children (ages 5 and under). If we find out that you want the game for a small child, we reserve the right to refuse to sell you the game unless you can prove to us that this is an exceptional case!
Didn't mean to end on a negative note, but we will not be responsible for the bad decisions of others. If the game says: Keep out of reach of small children, we mean it!
I know this was alot to read, but we stand behing our games and are picky on how they are represented. So as soon as we find a picture that does a game justice, we will post it immediately! Until then, take it from a group of people that have played games for most of their lives - these games are fun!
