--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an aunt that used to live in Kansas City. About five years ago, I flew to Missouri to visit her. Now, her house was an older plantation-style house, which had been divided into two halves, duplex style, and my aunt lived in one half. I was sitting in a reading room on the second floor, adjacent to one of the sealed doors that separated the two "apartments", and my aunt"s cat was sitting in my lap.
All of a sudden, the cat began arching its back and hissing in a way that I had never heard. It was terrified, but refused to leave or be consoled. I looked around for what was bothering the cat, but we were alone in the room. Then I took a deep breath, and almost choked. I could smell a very strong, very putrid perfume. It was almost over- whelming...It seemed as if the air in the room was getting tight, as it the pressure was increasing. I looked at my aunt"s cat, which was still going crazy. Its attention seemed to be wandering to various parts of the room.

At one point, the cat grew frantic, backing away from whatever it sensed, and screeching loudly. By this time, I was covered in goosebumps, my heart was pounding, and I could almost feal my hair turning grey.

Eventually, the cat calmed down, the smell seemed to weaken and finally vanish, and the room "felt" empty once again. When my aunt came upstairs and looked at me, she saw my hair standing on end, and at first was shocked. Then she seemed to realize what happened and said, "Did my cat introduce you to our ghost?"
