The Laws of the Tuchuk
People
1. No One is Above the Law. The Word of the Ubar is Law.
The lives of the People are in his hands. "Ubar's Justice" (ie execution)
may be carried out by the Ubar at his discretion. All people on Tuchuk lands,
and ALL Tuchuks, are subject to this. ( no 'dice rolls' are needed for this
action by the Ubar) The Ubar Never Goes Back on His Word. (The Ubar will
be elected by a majority vote of the members of the Tuchuk tribe.)
2. The Tuchuks are wagon people. Wagon people do not eat anything that
was grown in the earth.
3. A Tuchuk is a proud person, he/she is above petty quarrels with
other members of the tribe. If there is an argument, those concerned
will seek out the next highest ranking commander of the tribe to settle the
argument. Commanders will not become involved in the argument but give
just and fair settlement to the argument.
4. A warrior that has been awarded a scar will not be questioned as
to his right to wear that scar.
5. Once a Tuchuk has shared grass and earth with a City Dweller that
Dweller is welcome in the camp as a friend. However, the Tuchuk that
shared grass and earth with the Dweller is still responsible for that one's
actions. This is to insure that the sharing of grass and earth is not
done frivolously.
6. When a stranger enters Tuchuk lands they are to be warned off, if
they do not leave, they have given consent to suffer the consequences of
entering Tuchuk lands.
7. ANYONE that is caught killing a bosk foolishly shall be strangled
with thongs or suffocated in the hide of the animal that was slain.
If the slain bosk was with calf, the perpetrator will be staked out in the
path of the herd before a march.
8. Anyone caught stealing, killing ,maiming or other wise harming another Tribesperson's kailla Will be held accountable for thier actions and further will be Publicly beaten ,replacement of the animal and given hard labor for said time. Additionally if said Person holds a commanders rank he Will Lose his rank apon conviction
9. Tuchuks revere the Priest-Kings but do not worship them. Only a
male Tuchuk will pray to the sky while armed and then only mounted on his kaiila..
The only things that a Tuchuk holds sacred are Honor, Courage and skill at
arms.
10. Free men and women of the Tuchuks do not need dice to interact with
slaves. Additionally, free men of the Tuchuks do not need dice to
interact with free women of the tribe.
11. Tuchuks prize their privacy, tribe members do not enter each others
wagons without permission. If someone is needed it is polite to stand
outside of the wagon and call out to (IM) the one inside of the wagon.
The Laws of Free Men
1. All Free Men of the Tuchuk Tribe are Warriors.
2. Tribe free men are to act with honor and respect at all times.
3. Rank among warriors is earned. Warriors will salute the highest
ranking commander present at all times. Saluting will be accomplished in
the following manner:
Commander of 10 or strike your spear against your shield once.
Commander of 100 or strike your spear against your shield twice.
Commander of 1000- or strike your spear against your shield three times.
4. Failure to salute is an indication of disrespect, a warrior is never
disrespectful of his superiors. Punishment for disrespect will be ruled
by a commander of the next highest rank and will be as follows:
Commander of 10:
1st offense, 5 lashes; 2nd offense, 10 lashes; 3rd offense, Ubar's decision,
more lashes or banishment.
Commander of 100:
1st offense, 10 lashes; 2nd offense, 20 lashes; 3rd offense, Ubar's decision,
more lashes or banishment.
Commander of 1000:
1st offense, 20 lashes; 2nd offense, Ubar's decision, banishment or death.
Ubar:
1st offense, banishment or death.
5. There will be no fighting or petty quarrels between warriors.
Friendly spars and non-lethal Honor Matches only may be fought between
warriors. Tuchuk will not kill Tuchuk. This holds true at all
times unless sanctioned by the Ubar with approval of the council. The
only exception to this is the Ubar's personal Guard commander has the right
to kill anyone ( even Tuchuk ) if that member poses a direct threat to the
Ubar's or Ubara's Life, or the life of any of their children under the age
of 12.
6. A man who has not earned the courage scar is considered an object
of ridicule and derision among the Tuchuks. He cannot, in fact, be
considered a member of the warrior brotherhood of the tribe.
7. A man who has not yet won the courage scar cannot compete in the
contests of Love War.
8. One who does not wear the courage scar cannot pay court to a free
woman, own a wagon, or own more than three bosk and five kaiila.
9. A warrior of our tribe may secure, gag, or stuff a wench of the tribe in a dung sack if he feels it is warranted to discipline her. Beatings, whippings, or other physical punishments will be reserved to a tribeswench's mate, her oldest living male tribesman, or the Ubar if neither of the previous apply. Secure the wench, contact whichever man is responsible for her, and work out a desired punishment with him or let him handle it on his own as he sees fit.
10. The Black Masks are still warriors of the Tuchuk tribe. They must follow all our known laws. They do, however, have their own and different laws, guidelines, and customs than those of just the normal warriors.
Those laws are kept by the leader of the Black Masks. If you need those
laws, you will already have them for you will be Black Mask.
The Laws of Free
Women
1. Gor is not fair to women. If a free woman has a problem with a warrior
she should take it to her mate, oldest living male family member, or a commander that is the warrior's superior. If
that should fail to satisfy the situation, the problem may be brought to
the Ubar and the Council.
2. Free women of the Tuchuk tribe will act with honor and respect at
all times. It is unseemly for free women to quarrel and fight among
themselves or to do so with a warrior of the tribe publically. In either case,
take the problem up with the nearest commander. If that does not satisfy
the situation use the chain of command up to the Ubar and the council.
3. Free women of the Tuchuks wear their hair in braids unlike slave
girls who wear their hair loose and unbound. A Tuchuk woman never wears
her hair loose, for she knows that if she does she may never braid it as
a free woman again.
4. Tuchuk free women are allowed to train with the quiva and horn bow, but
may only use them in defense of the camp or in wagering.
5. A free woman is allowed to spar hand to hand only, weapons are not
allowed. There are no honor matches or death matches between a free woman and
a warrior. If such is needed the free woman must be championed by another
warrior at the descretion of the Ubar.
6. At times of war, a warrior wearing a courage scar is superior to
any woman in the camp. At times of war, women on the council are not allowed
to vote, At times of war, a senior warrior, or commander, may over rule the
Ubara unless she is engaged in getting the women and slaves out of the
camp.
7. When a stranger approaches the camp of the Tuchuks, it is not a
woman's place to ride out to speak or question him. [The only exception
is Free woman is "alone" in the camp and then she will make use of npc outriders. It should also be mentioned that there are "hundreds of thousands" of warriors within the harigga at any time there will be no successful 'raids' on the harigga by a mere handful of strangers] .
8. When a stranger is either killed or allowed into the camp and a
free woman has a complaint about this she must whisper (IM) to the warrior that killed
or admitted the stranger. During the conversation, she must remain
respectful to the warrior even if she does not agree with his decision. Women, do not argue with a scarred Tuchuk warrior publically or in front of those not of the tribe.
9. Women of the Tuchuk tribe are a fierce prideful lot prone to speaking their minds and actions of abruptness that, in a woman of the cities, would find them in chains and collars to have such removed from them. Tribes women are under the judgement of the Ubar or their mates first. In cases of an unmated woman in need of discipline the Ubar or oldest living male relative will judge and punish her.
10. Women do not raid other tribes, raid for bosk, nor go on any other
type of raid on their own. They may join a raid if there are two or
more warriors raiding, if those warriors permit it.[ this is only to support more interesting role play when things are slow and is not to be done on a regular basis. Our free women are to be protected].
11. Tuchuk women may be commanded in the day to day need of camp by any tribesman. This, of course, does not mean that a tribesman may command an unmated or mated, unless it is her mate, free Tuchuk woman to his furs for his pleasure, or to strip herself for him or another or in any other way demean herself. Keep it within reason men. Our women are prideful and we enjoy it.
12. Tuchuk free women are protected by Tuchuk tribesmen from other peoples in all matters. There are no exceptions to this, period. No one not of the tribe has any command of the disposition of a Tuchuk tribeswoman unless she is outside of our lands. In that case she can, like any other woman, be taken as slave if she is not accompanied by a Tuchuk Warrior. They are much sought after by those of the cities for their fierce pride and heady spirit.
13. In defending the camp Tuchuk tribeswomen will defend their men and wagons only. They will *not* confront strangers to camp out on the plains. They do *not* ride on the plains, with or without Tuchuk tribesmen, into combat. This is not to say that a free Tuchuk tribeswoman may not take up her bow and fire it at strangers within bow shot once battle has commenced. *that would* be expected of them. In most cases the tribeswomen and slaves will be ordered into the wagons during attack or beneath them. Instant obedience is expected. Any free Tuchuk tribesman may give this command. It will be obeyed.
14. Any Tuchuk Free woman that has had her nose pierced is considered available for courting. Thus any scarred free Tuchuk man can court her and or claim her as his own if that woman's gaurdian consents and a suitable mating price is arrived at between the two men. [ this will of course have to be consented to by both characters players to promote healthy role play. Don't enter into
matings frivilously]If so consented she belongs, as mate, to the scarred Tuchuk warrior. A woman's gaurdian is her oldest living male Tuchuk relative or the Ubar if she has no live male family members.
Laws for
Slaves
1)
Slaves are not required to ask permission to enter camps, but must request
permission from a Free Person to leave. If the request is not granted
in a reasonable amount of time, then repeat the request, as it might have
been missed. If a second request is not answered, then politely
take your leave.
2) All Free Persons and Tribe Friendly are to be greeted upon entering, except
when a slave is serving, then they are to be greeted once their serve is
complete. The Free are to be addressed simply as Master or Mistress,
the only time a slave may use a Masters name is when the Masters have given
them permission to do so or in action or thought to specify one from the
other.
3) Speaking to the Free in camp is not forbidden, and many fun things can
be shared, as is appropriate.Free floating thoughts will be considered as
speech,or easily read emotions. If they are rude or insolent expect to be corrected quickly with
a hand across your face. If you have something that is not nice to say, whisper to the person and choose your words and thoughts carefully. And remember, it's not a slave's place to challenge the free.
4) Tribe slaves do not
speak OOC in public rooms. Use of brackets " ((.....)) of any type
is forbidden. If you must say something OOC do it in whispers, and ask permission
to whisper in the room. Slaves should expect to be cuffed should they
do either. Remember, a backhand across the face is not punishment,
it is a correction.
5) Master's or Mistresses should be treated with equal respect from a slave.
NO slave should "ignore" a request from either sex.
6) Do not correct another slaves actions in public....but whisper to them in polite terms. rewritten as Slave players, if you notice another slave having trouble serving or performing another task in a manner that is wrong, whisper to their players politely with the correct information. Understand that no one knows or can remember every tiny detail written by Norman in his books
7) Unruly, disruptive, or insolent slaves will be corrected. If that fails they will be beaten and/or punished as the situation dictates. Should this fail to correct the situation they will be bound, gagged, and thrown into their owner's wagon for them to deal with. A slave that is outright and purposefully disrespectful or patently ignores direction from the free are not worth further time. Remember, a slave is only property. though valued by their owners they are not irreplacable. Should a disrespectful slave be killed by one other than their owner that owner will be repayed the value of the slave. [ for the free players - Choosing to kill a slave should be weighed against the anger it might cause their owner, take it into account with your decision because sometime in the future it may be done to a slave you own]
8) Coins can be placed in a slave's mouth , in a sack around its neck or briefly carried in its hand should that be required. Weapons will not be carried by slaves unless otherwise instructed to retrieve a weapon or by special dispensation as in the case of trained protector slaves. Punishment for such things is up to and including death. There are instances where a Free Person may be lenient and simply whip the slave, who should accept it as a slave should.
9) Unopened slave girls should be belted and kept that way when allowed to serve publically within the harigga if their owners do not want their virginity taken by another. Slaves will not nadu when a Free woman is physically in a position to be offended by the parting of a slave girl's thighs. Oppositely male slaves are not kept by Tuchuks as pleasure slaves. they are working animals or protectors only. Male slaves will not kneel as a pleasure slave in the presence of Tuchuk warriors.
10) There is no such thing as a "reserved" slave. A slave may be her owner's "preferred" or "favored' slave. A sa-fora with this status in her profile will not be molested sexually, damaged, sold, or killed by another's hand among the tribe. These slaves are her owner's delight and that Tuchuk owner will be respected by others of the Tribe. If such a slave is disrespectful, insolent, or otherwise deserves punishment, beat or correct them as you would any other slave.
11) A Free person of the tribe does not need to roll dice to maim, correct, whip, or even kill a slave unless they want to add affect.
12) "Running away" is not only Impossible but also punishable by death should a slave, somehow, make it past the hundreds of herd sleen that are trained to chase a slave back into the camp to specified cages once a slave wanders too far among the bosk herds. A slave that does not flee before, and be herded by, the sleen are eaten by the animal as it is trained to do. Should a slave, amazingly, make it past the sleen there is also the many patrols of kaiila riding outriders to contend with.
13) Slaves will accept punishments as graciously as they accept praise. If a slave has to be drug kicking and screaming to the post, they should expect more lashes.
14) Slaves do not interrupt the conversations of the free or insert their input without seeking permission first or being asked for that input.
15) Slaves, female or male, are and will be expected to lash out at any enemy of the tribe within the camp during an attack. If ordered beneath the wagons the slaves can throw rocks or dung, or strike out with ladles . . sticks. . whatever comes to hand when an enemy comes within striking range. They will *not chase enemies about the camp. Exceptions are that slaves will not take up weapons such as bows, quiva, spears, swords, axes etc unless they have been given previous permission to do so. And then only during an attack on the camp that enters inside the wagon squares. Slaves may very well be ordered into the wagons, in that case they will do so by entering an appropriate private room.
16) Slaves will never address the Ubar, Ubara, or commanders by their rank.
17) Slaves will not be freed without consent of the Ubarand a
plan for them to survive. If that means that you wait, then you
wait. Female slaves will not be freed except by their Masters who are
planning to join with them once they are freed. Male slaves that are
deemed fit, may be freed and allowed to seek their courage scar, thereby
becoming a Tuchuk warrior. **Note, both of these instances are extremely
rare, the latter having happened only once before.**
~_-_~ Laws for Strangers
~_-_~
1) Strangers that approach the Camp of the Tuchuks should be met by outriders.
2) Be fierce with strangers. In all confrontations with strangers to camp men will face them as enemies. If they do not satisfy your inquiries or show suitable courage in their contact with you. Slay them. If need be use the non player character outriders to do so if their numbers are great or your attacks . .. suck. .. no stranger on foot or kaiila back will ever escape Tuchuk riders. Remember this. Tarn riders might be able to escape if they are a suitable distance from a lance charge.
3) No one not of the tribe may draw steel except to defend the People or gamble. If weapons are drawn by one not of the tribe to attack a tribemember inside the harigga they will be killed out of hand.
4) Those who wish to trade with the Tuchuks will be branded on their upper
forearm with the sign of the bosk. It is the merchants brand and shows when
they come to the Tuchuks to trade they come as slaves. This is of course
if their merchandise is found acceptable.
5) If the merchandise of one who comes to trade with the Tuchuks is found poor then they will be slain, or enslaved, on the spot. And their cargo taking for the trouble of the Tuchuks in having to speak with them.
6) There is no need to spear gamble if one of the Outriders holds a rank
above the others he may offer to spear gamble or just take the killing into
his own hands.
7) If there is more then one Outrider at the camp and a stranger arrives
they should spear gamble if they are of equal rank or unequal but decide
to do so.
~Spear gambling is done by dismounting from your kaiila... Done from the back of the kaiila one person removes their lance and places the tip down in the ground, all Tuchuks involved walks their kaiila around the lance until it falls from where it stands towards someone. Whichever Tuchuk catches it gets to kill the stranger....just roll 1d# the # being the amount of outriders there whoever's number gets it will be the one who gets to fight the stranger. Decide your number before you begin. The following fight will be done with Tuchuk on kaiila back, always.~
8) Tarns that do not show the sign of peace or of the messenger are taking
as strangers. Strangers being the same gorean word as enemy they are to be
treated as such. And once shot out of the sky they can be used as food for
the sleen or the kaiila's.
~_-_~ Miscellaneous Laws
~_-_~
1) Tribe comes before other people of gor. Vermin of the walls and the such,
of course there can some exemptions such as one who has shared grass and
earth with a Tuchuk. This still does not put them equal to a Tuchuk it is
just as close as any that aren't Tuchuk can come to being it.
2) OOC and IC crossover is forbidden even on the Plains of Gor.
3) There will be no more than one character per mun accepted as part of the tribe. Any caught playing more than one character among the People, be it two free persons or a free person and a slave, or any other combination that adds up to more than ONE character within the tribe, will have all characters removed from the tribe either with or without the acceptance of those that break the law. they will either be killed or ignored by the rest of the tribe.
4) Death is not a resting place in your life. When you have died you are
dead gone you can not come back to the Tribe no matter how good a Story Line
you think up. You can make a new screen name and try to get into the tribe
once more but the one that died shall always remain dead
5) Raids are an accepted and honored part of the lives of all the Wagon Peoples but make no direct action of War against any other Tribe unless it has been given the Ubar's direct approval.
6) If there is something that one does not understand they can simply ask
one of the Chain of Command and if they need to know they will be informed
7) Wagers are Wagers. If you lose a wager you must still give what you lost.
You can not claim that the wager was not good because "whine whine whine"
we are Tuchuks not City Dwellers we uphold our ends of bargains or wagers.
8) The challenges of the Living Lance and that of facing the Lance are two
challenges that cannot be turned down. Even if not Tuchuk and within our
camp they must act as a Tuchuk would on these Matters and compete with either
thing or lose and the one who challenged Claims victory.
9) We are not as nice as city dwellers so we skip the first stage of their
part on thieves. At first attempt we cut off their right hands instead of
notching an ear. And at second attempt we remove the left and their feet.
Returnees
1. When a Tuchuk child returns as an adult, they will be listed and treated as prospects due to the fact that the child would not have known the laws of the people to the extent that an adult must know them.
2. If a free woman leaves for any reason other than banishment and returns in under six mun months, she retains her place in the tribe. If she is gone for more than 6 mun months, she will start over as a prospect.
3. If a warrior leaves for under six mun months, and returns to the tribe he retains his position in the tribe. If he is gone for over six months, other than for a valid mun reason such as prolonged illness or military duty, he will retain his scars, but not any command position he may have held.
Killing of Slaves
1. A slave is property, no Tuchuk will frivolously destroy another's property. Any free person may kill a slave, however, the reason for doing so must be valid not just because that free person happens to have a bad day.
2. A slave may only be killed for the following reasons: Raising a hand against a free person, touching or attempting to brandish a weapon, attempting to cause bodily harm to a free person, refusing to aid a critically injured free person.
4. Owners of slaves that act out, are mouthy or uncooperative will discipline said slave and not coddle them. A free person's word is always to be taken over that of a slave. Slaves who are found to be in need of discipline and are not disciplined by their owner will loose their privilege of interacting with others of the camp and will be shunned (ignored) by the people of the camp.
