Oyhoy hoy boys, and we have yet again ANOTHER new gameplay screenshot released by Blizzard. Nova is staring down a hallway, straight down at a big bad hydralisk. We see the hydralisk waving it’s arms around in the air, shrouded in orange smoke.

Contrary to popular belief, I do NOT think that it’s inside a big cloud of dark swarm, simply because there is no real logic to casting Dark Swarm indoors. After all, it was used as the Zergs’ “shield” against air attacks, and there’s a ceiling quite visible above the Hydra. Also, Dark Swarm, in my opinion, would be much thicker than that stuff, although it’s up to Blizzard to decide just whether it is or isn’t. This is an entirely different genre after all, and things get tweaked to fit the new gameplay style.

Other possibilities for this orange cloud include Terran “smoke grenades”, or a gas leakage onboard the vessel Nova is in. It should also be noticed that on Nova’s radar screen, the hydralisk has no color stating his sense of alertness. There is a multitude of possibilities for this. It could be that the orange cloud is jamming the scan that the color green means no state of alert, or that Zergs are simply “unscannable”.

Moving on, it is quite evident that our hero just barely made it out of an intense battle, seen by her only 3 bars of life and NO ammunition whatsoever. Since both energy and shields regenerate, it is possible that the player just “sat around” waiting for them to come back up, to improve his or her best chances of survival in the battles to come.

Finally we see that a special ability of Nova’s has been activated, the one that we infer is “super-speed” since the other abilities that Blizzard has listed have already been clearly defined with other icons (read previous screenshot analysis’ for more details).

It is fair game to guess that with Nova’s current lack of health and ammo, she’s in no condition to fight that Hydra, and will instead race by it. This is Slick_Gecko, giving you another (long overdue) screenshot analysis.
